Pre school booster jabs

Has anyone's child had their jabs yet, and how did it go? We have my daughter's tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to it!

We had ours today… I won’t lie to you, ours didn’t go well! We had lots of tears and she actually said to me “why did you let them do that to me”. Needless to say I felt awful! After a biscuit and a magazine she had forgotten all about it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m going to get them booked in this week… my older 2 hated them so can imaging maxi will freak! I’d advise bribes and distractions… sweets and a screen are my go too then daddy takes them out to make up for mummy being so mean!

@Emily oh bless. Well done both of you! I've promised ice cream after so hoping that helps

We had ours this morning and i was shocked he was so good! We talked about it a lot leading up to it and just before we went we watched the vaccination episodes of bing and daniel tiger which i think really helped because he knew what was going to happen x

We have ours tomorrow too! Dreading it but we’ve talked about it and she knows what’s going to happen 🤞🏼🤦🏼‍♀️

The appt is booked, but it’s not for a couple of weeks. I am absolutely dreading it.

Our is tomorrow too. I am dreading it 😫

@Emily My daughters pre school jabs are due next week i am pretty anxious about them and feel sad she will be asking me the same thing 🥹🙈

My girl had hers on Friday, I spoke to her about it lots before but very different in the moment. After the first happened she cried and said I don't want the other one so had to hold extra tight for that one. Bought frozen plasters along to try and soften the blow which seemed to do the job shortly after as the tears stopped before we left the room. Very happy to show her Anna and elsa arms after lol

We had ours last week. It didn't go well.... one of my twins has SEN so we had alot of tears. I felt so guilty 😔 the other twin ran away when it was his turn x

Did you get a letter to tell you to book or did you just call the GP?

@Ame maxi is SEN too and I’m absolutely dreading it! Daddy has said he’ll come for back up which he’s never done before!

@Jen I was told they can be booked at 3yrs 4months so this month for July babies xx

@Laura honestly I think us parents worry more, which I think they pick up on. I talked about what was happening loads before they had it done. Which I think helped. Bribery helped aswell 🤣 What made my boy worse was that he is very hypermobile and can escape being held easily. He moved twice, and that made him worse x

I was waiting for a letter as he's had letters for his other ones but think I'm going to have to ring up. Xx

I asked the surgery a while back and they told me I’d get a reminder but if not to call them at 3y and 4mo. I got a text reminder to book an appt last week.

@Chloe I got an NHS one saying don't forget to book preschool jabs but we usually get a letter with an appt date. Think I'm going to have to ring up though. I'm hoping I can get one where I'm off and he's not at nursery next day as nursery policy says they need to stay off the day after. He will be 3 years 4 months tomorrow xx

I called my GP just now and reception said we wait on a letter from NHS. But his 3 years 4 months is now, just like you all. I guess a month or so won't make a difference. As anyone else with a July baby not been written to yet?

@Caroline I've just rang up and we have to wait for a letter too xx

@Caroline, mine are May babies, and have only just had them done last week. I had to wait for a letter to come through too.

@Caroline it’s fine if it done late just can’t be done before 3yrs and 4months

@Jen we just got a letter through with ours probably end of october time and his appointment was yesterday x

I’ve finally had ours booked. How many jabs is it?

@Angela 2, one in each arm 😊

We had ours yesterday evening. My daughter was excited to see the "doctor" and cooperating right up the moment she saw the needle coming up to her shoulder. The scream was unreal. The second jab didn't go well at all. She was fighting, and I struggled to hold her to the point where the nurse had to sit on my daughter's legs as she was kicking too much. She is a big girl 108cm and 20kg. We've done the flu jab (in her nose) as well. It was all done within a minute or so, really quick. As soon as we stopped holding her, my daughter stopped crying and was absolutely fine, got a lollipop and a sticker, and left the room smiling. Got home at 7pm, watched a bit of tv and went to bed at 8. No fever or pain at night, went to nursery in the morning, although I pre-warned them she might not attend today due to the jabs. She is at home now playing as usual, naughty and energetic as ever.
