They did my daughters via blood draw at 1 year at a lab and she screamed the entire time they tried to get a good stick, both her dad and I had to hold her down, they rolled her vein and she was bruised so bad. She screamed like she did for her first shots so just be prepared for either

@Kamari 💛 I could not imagine. I am scared for my son and he has no idea what is coming.
For my baby they did a heel stick as well
@Sarah how old was your baby when they did that?
@Katie Eller they did it at her 1 year appointment (she was closer to 13 months tho)
@SarahI’m wondering if they already did it but in the questioner for the online check in they asked about anemia but he he just had a finger prick done to check lead and hemoglobin at his 1 year check up…. This appointment Thursday is the 15 month check up.
@Katie Eller maybe it’s the same thing? Bc mine had that test but she never got a finger poke she’s only ever gotten poked on the heel
I took my daughter at 12 months. We had to hold her down but it went smoothly they got the vein right away and she started crying at the end.
They took blood from my daughters foot. It took AGES cause the prick was so small. They needed enough for the iron test and the lead test. My daughter didnt cry or fuss but she hated sitting still for so long after a while lol Luckily we got what we needed or else they would have had to draw blood.
