Parental judgement

My babies have just had there jabs and I refused the oral one as I never received this as a child and we have received awful judgement and very bad care from the nurses at my doctors surgery due to this. Has anyone else been judged based on how they want to parent their own child?

That’s because rotavirus is a very infectious disease which can make your baby seriously ill. It’s natural to have questions and even reservations about giving your baby vaccines, but just because you didn’t receive it as a baby is not a good enough reason to opt out altogether. Vaccines are the most important single thing you can do to protect your baby’s health and wellbeing. Do your research. Ask the questions. Vaccinate your kids. https://vaccineknowledge.ox.ac.uk/rotavirus-vaccine#Key-vaccine-facts

Agree with Sharon. I don’t understand why you not having it as a child means you won’t let your child have it?

I personally only give "necessary" that I researched lots into and I wouldn't skip roto virus. My partner had to do all nappy changes as it's a live virus and I'm immunocompromised and he ended up getting the virus. It's been the worst experience but I'm so happy she's been protected against it as I wouldn't wish it on any adult let alone a small baby. If you are unsure on any vaccines research into the pros and cons of them

To be honest even though I agree with Sharon, I still think that you and no one should be judged. It is always your choice and the nurses shouldn't have treated you in that way. They should have explained to you about the vaccine and why it's new now etc etc

Agree with the most of the above comments, it’s one of two things in parenting I judge on and I think it’s absolutely warranted that you felt judged because they were probably doing the right thing in trying to convince you to give it to your baby.

I agree with the above. Nobody has the right to judge you. However, just because you didn't have a vaccine doesn't mean that your child shouldn't....medicine is evolving all the time and your child is lucky that they have more illnesses we can help protect them from. But providing you feel like you've made an informed decision...

Do what you think is right for you and your baby! Don’t let people scaremonger you into vaccinating because it’s what everyone does. Do your own research and make sure you are happy with it because it is difficult to find the pros for not vaccinating as this isn’t the norm and not what society wants you to do. We haven’t vaccinated our 3 month old yet and I’m not in a rush. Still undecided because there are pros and cons for both for me, but it is my baby and mine and my partners decision which has caused huge problems to my parents who are for the vaccines and his parents who are anti! We all do what we feel is best for our own family.

It’s difficult to find the pros for not vaccinating because there aren’t any. What are the pros to not wearing a seatbelt? Or not wearing a bicycle helmet? Or not using sunscreen? These things exist for your child’s protection. The only difference is that by choosing to vaccinate your child you’re also protecting others in your community, including those too young to be vaccinated. There are risks with all vaccines - it’s medicine, not magic. But by refusing to vaccinate you’re riding on the coattails of everyone else who made the socially responsible choice. By all means do your own research, but do it in the right places with the right information. Because anyone who tells you not to vaccinate without a true medical exemption is a fucking charlatan with blood on their hands.

I didn’t get the oral vaccine for my baby either just the 6 in 1 and the Men B, for the same reason aswell that we never had these extra vaccines when we were little and we were all fine, yes blah blah someone will say just cuz you didn’t get it it’s not a good enough reason however I feel like it is because all these new vaccines are just too much (it took a lot for me to get her vaccinated in the first place as I was really in 2 minds) also once your baby is over 15 weeks they can’t have it as there’s not enough research done on babies over 15 weeks getting the first dose so that in itself is concerning (for me)
