I just went with my gut and changed her milk despite what my doc said.
Trust your gut. No one believed me either until he had blood in his nappy, ask to trial a CMPA friendly formula (if you are formula feeding)
My little girl had severe constipation, a rash all over her body, constant crying worse at night and after feeding, colic and reflux symptoms which didn’t ease with changes. Follow your gut mama x
I showed my gp a video of my little one wheezing and he said it was normal baby noises, as soon as we swapped milks it stopped
Also wasn’t believed the first doctor I went to. But we knew cause of how gassy and uncomfortable she would get after feeding and when passing stools. When the second doctor looked at her stool sample (which came back positive for cmpa) she said she could imediately tell she was allergic because her poo was mucusy and sweet smelling.
Also experienced that arching ur talking about, definitely persist and demand they test a stool sample
Thanks everyone! Our HV is here tomorrow so will run these new symptoms past her but like I say something just isn’t right! I just think they’ll be dismissed because he’s gaining weight really well!
My little girls main symptoms were mucous in her nappies, a rash and sneezing, the GP tried to dismiss all of these as something else and I strongly believe they only listened to me because I’m a NICU nurse and was absolutely adamant her symptoms weren’t ‘normal’. In regards to weight, I don’t know how true this is but our HV told us babies who have CMPA will often over feed on normal formula as a ‘comfort’ early on as the act feeding soothes them and they obviously don’t know that the milk is causing their discomfort. For us we were born on the 50th, she went up to the 75th while on Aptamil (she would guzzle it down and take so much more than she needed) and then she had since dropped all the way down to the 15th (although we also have severe silent reflux to thank for that!) so I wouldn’t let them say just because you have no weight issues that means it can’t be CMPA x
@Jade this is exactly what my boy does, he’s went from drinking 60-80 to tanking up to 150ml in one go. We’ve assumed he’s been doing it to sooth his sore belly but then it’s obv making it worse.
My daughter had mucousy nappies and would fidgety on the bottle during feeds. I gave it time to pass in case the mucousy nappies were a bug, but after 2/3 weeks, I thought it's long enough and took her. Drs noticed she had eczema as well. Looking back, she had more symptoms, but I just wasn't aware they were related. She had a rash all over her body and would projectile vomit a few times each night. I'm sure there were more symptoms, but I can't remember them. This was 6 months ago. Luckily, my Dr just agreed with me. However, once on the milk, I doubted if I was right changing her milk, but it was confirmed when she had a supply issue, changed milks, and had blood in her stools. Xx
I took my little girl down because of severe constipation to gp they sent me hospital and that’s how I found out I had no clue half her symptoms were because of it xx
