You're doing the right thing - keep him upright for a while after feeds. If it's particularly bad you can ask your GP about getting baby gaviscon
Yes I also keep my newborn upright for 30mins to an hour and make sure she burbs and lets the wind out before putting her back on her cot or Moses basket. I don’t think we can stop the reflux but minimising helps. I’ve also bought a bed sheet that is super soft and soaks up any pukes so she’s not sleeping in wet mattress
I also had this worry, I mentioned it to my midwife and she said any milk that comes up when winding your baby shows they have overfed. Nothing we can do as a mum it is down to our little one to figure out how much is enough for them. It is horrible though, just like the others have said try keep them upright for 20-30 mins after each feed, I know at night when you’re exhausted it can be difficult but I find laying him on my chest and having a snuggle with him upright for 20 mins and then putting him into his crib really helps xx
@Maddie this isn't true. Babies can also have reflux like my daughter, which is nothing to do with overfeeding - quite the opposite, it led to my baby not getting enough milk
@Katie I mentioned reflux to my midwife because I have a feeling he has it but I feel like different midwives give such contradicting information so I don’t know what’s right or wrong
Have baby upright for about 30 minutes after he finishes feeding as this will help the milk to settle, also make sure to wind him as well as this will also help, with my firstborn i used to get halfway through a feed, stop to wind, let him finish the feed and then wind again up on my shoulder, after this i would keep him upright for around 30 minutes and this would help x
