Gender

I had a blood test around 8 weeks into my pregnancy, and the results indicated I’m having a girl. We were thrilled and quickly decided on a name for the baby. At my 12-week scan, I didn’t pay much attention to the details, but now, at 17 weeks, I’ve been looking at the scan again and noticed something that looks like a male nub. My 20-week scan is scheduled for the beginning of December. Should I book a private scan to find out sooner, or should I wait? The blood test was done at Window to the Womb, so I assume the chances of an error are about 1%. Would you wait, or would you go for an earlier scan?

It could be swollen vulva on the scan. Typically xy chromosome in blood is prominent as you don’t have that chromosome showing up in your blood, so if it was indeed a boy, it would’ve showed up at the blood test. But having an additional scan is always good just because you get to see your little one bopping around in there 🤪🥰 but if you’re financially conscious then don’t, because 99% you have a girl

If you can afford an extra scan then go for it. But their gender is decided so no need to pay for additional scans, just wait until 20 week one.

I looked up the place you got it done. And the blood tests done by a doctor/in a lab are 99% accurate. The sneak peak tests you do at home are less accurate wither determine gender because you almost have to sterilize yourself other wise it can give a false boy indication. What you are seeing could also be the umbilical cord if you aren’t trained to read those things. So I personally wouldn’t spend money for an extra scan I’d just wait the 3 weeks. Where I am it would likely take me that long to get in anyway

I think I will wait, as I believe it’s highly unlikely to be wrong. I would like to do another scan, but I’m planning to do a 4D one later on. Thank you everyone!

When they do the blood test they look to see if there is a Y chromosome on your blood. Because unless you are intersex or have a very rare genetic mix you shouldn't have a Y

The nub is visible on male and female. Wait for the anatomy scan to confirm.

Post thr scan?

@Andrea I did post the scan on a different group and everyone said a boy 😂 honestly, I think it might be the umbilical cord that looks like a male nub.

Ah I'm interested to see 🤣

I have heard of blood tests results being wrong before both boy and girl results.

@Andrea me too. But it was done in a clinic and not at home.

I had a blood gender test done at a clinic at 7 weeks and got girl results, she is most definitely a girl.

Oh yes it does look boyish, but I don't know whether that's based off the stacking etc how far were you here?

@Andrea I was 12w and 4d. I will wait until my 20weeks scan to confirm.
