FTM Silly mistake

So today I went on the train for the first time with bubba as I had a doctors appointment in central london. I havent been on the train since last year so quite a while. Everything was fine till I was coming back home. I was thinking, how do I get off the train? I couldnt see how far the dip from the train to the platform was and I wasnt strong enough to lift the whole pram/bassinet. So anyway, I went ahead and stupid me, the front of the pram wheels fell into the gap and bubba was almost vertical on her head. I shouted in horror whilst people blankly walked by. Thankfully a man on his phone easily helped me and continued with his conversation like nothing had happened. Honestly it was a stupid mistake and I called my partner almost in tears wondering for the safety of my baby girl who slept through the whole ordeal and feeling like a terrible Mum. He told me I shouldve gone out backwards… Honestly my brain is like all the lights are on but noone is home. I felt so stupid and terrible… Baby girl seems fine, my Mum and partner said she’d be fine. But honestly feel like an idiot 😭

Don’t feel like a bad mum it was your first time! Lesson learnt for next time! I’m sure your baby girl is happy and didn’t even realise. It’s only your own self that is the reason you feel bad! You’ve got this mama x

You’re not stupid and you’re not terrible. But Mum’s who care will always feel that way about every tiny error. You kept her safe in a moment of panic and honestly, that’s top tier Mumming ❤️. Try not to beat yourself up and enjoy a day of extra snuggles today knowing she’s just fine and all safe at home with you 🥰. You’re doing wonderful!

I did something similar on an escalator because the lift was out of order and I WOULD NOT recommend 😭 was a harmless mistake and also I’ve usually found people on trains rush to help someone with a pram so I’m surprised at that. Just straight up ask someone next time and I’m sure they will help you. ☺️

Us mums all have moments like these! I look like I can’t drive my pram half the time 😂 I find people now days so rude and not very helpful at all and you just get funny looks instead of someone just helping without judging! 🙄

Honestly well done for going; I'm stil thinking about my first train trip with bubs. The logistics of everything can be super hard, especially when on your own and tired. These things happen, go easy on yourself! Xx

Thanks all, definitely still learning and I know for next time 🙈 xx

I can relate to this post so much - after one of my first trips into central london by train to meet friends for lunch on the way home I slipped on a discarded chicken bone that was on the platform. I just didn’t see it because of the buggy blind spot on the floor. fell completely over on my front whilst holding onto the buggy and she ended up vertical but inside her basinette. Thankfully no trains were on the platform and it wasn’t too busy but I cried HARD and my baby was crying I think from the shock of going from horizontal to vertical suddenly. I grazed my knees and felt bruised and achey and up my arms for days. Baby was completely fine of course. A nice man stopped to help pick the buggy up and he sent down a staff member who I reported it to but honestly felt like such a failure.

@Dominique Aww bless you, that could have happened to any mama! Definitely not a failure, it was just an accident that unfortunately couldnt have been avoided. People litter everywhere 😓 At least baby was fine and you recovered in a few days but so sorry that happened to you. But youre NOT a failure, it was just an accident! ♥️ xx
