It Was probably their thing before it was yours, I have an auntie and uncle that have called us “babes” since we were babies and still do now, my mum and dad call us “my darling” have done since we were babies! Everyone has been raised different but I think it’s weird when people look at that in a weird or sexual way it’s just a pet name for her child! Try not think to much in it it’s a way some people express there love, but I also agree with the top one if it’s just came out the blue and it’s as if she’s trying to annoy you then that’s weird x
@Anneliese What is a cute alternative to babe? 🥰
You can still call him babe if that comes authentically to you then keep Calling him it, it’s not that big a deal if you both call him it as yous mean it in 2 different ways
Not at all, at least where I’m from. You wouldn’t call like “Babe?” To get their attention but you’d say “thanks babe” or “how are you doing babe?”. That’s pretty standard here to say to anyone really, family members, friends, even just like shop assistants might say it x
I dunno I think that’s super weird I’d never call my sons babe. Seems more like a relationship pet name
Yes it’s weird no ur not being insecure sorry I might have put the wrong answer in the poll cuz I was confused 😂
I don’t think it’s weird. I call my son baby all the time and sometimes it gets shortened to babe. I also call my husband babe. Historically it was a term of endearment used only for my husband but I wasn’t a mom then and it has evolved into a loving family term now. If it ever bothered my son or my husband I would not do it. If I called my husband babe and so did his mom, I may change what I called my husband. I could see how it would feel weird as the girlfriend if that’s a term you also use but it’s not weird in and of itself.
I’m imagining if my MIL called my husband babe.. sorry that is weird x
My mom calls me, my 3 brothers (and really anybody shes close with) “babe”. I’m now realizing this has rubbed off on me because I call my dogs and daughter “baby” and sometimes babe. Like if she’s crying or gets hurt I’ll say “what’s wrong, babe?” I feel like it’s normal because she is my baby so calling her baby isn’t weird lmfao
I actually think it makes more sense to call our kids that. Babe short for baby. Isn’t it “weirder” that we call or significant other babe 🤔 I am not bothered either way, I was just thinking why is it thought to be more okay for our partners…🤷🏻♀️
@Kate hmm I never thought of it like that hahha but you're kinda right 🤣
I don’t think it’s weird, personally I hate that term it makes me cringe 😬 but if she’s always called it him then I don’t see an issue, unless she’s started doing it just because you call it him and she’s trying to annoy you then that’s different 🤷🏻♀️
