we moved him onto it as he was having 4oz every 1 1/2- 2 hours and was absolutely restless, we would try him with a dummy and he wouldn’t take to it but once he was fed he would have another whole 4oz bottle again. with this milk he’s moved into 5oz and is having it every 3-31/2 hours x
@Leah how old is he?
he’s now 6 weeks old x
@Leah is he settled now with the hungry baby milk or still the same just going for longer periods before having a feed again? X
I thought it was just me😂 my health visitor only seems to care when it suits her!
@Amy he is more settled now or is easier to settle for example if he starts getting restless he will take to a dummy x
@Leah I mean if it’s working for him! I don’t think it poses any danger to him it just contains more casein so it’s harder to digest than normal formula, doesn’t had. Any additional calories x
@Amy thank you for this comment its so helpful! My baby's an October baby and I was debating hungry baby. She has reflux and seems to be crying and rooting for more milk after a feed, I thought it was because she was bringing up milk and therefore still was hungry. Going through formula like there is no tomorrow. I read this and gave her her dummy instead and calmed her by rocking amd shushing - held off on giving another bottle and she's settled with little to no spit up 💕 xx
@Becky aw I’m glad it’s helped someone! 🥰 honestly I was so confused why my 3 week old was having like 5oz every 2 hours I was like it’s not normal! All babies want is to suck on something when they are in pain or just need a bit of comfort so they will just keep rooting even if they don’t want/need it 😅 perfect I’m so glad it’s worked! 🥰💗 Pace feeding as well will be your best friend I noticed a massive difference with my little one xx
@Becky to just add as well my babies nearly 6 weeks old & she only drinks 4/5oz every 3/4 hours & she’s so much more settled x
@Amy I pace feed and burp half way through a bottle to help with the reflux but I feel like my health visitor or GP should have said sometimes her hunger cues can actually be comfort cues. When I expressed concerns about how much she was eating all I got told was "some babies are hungrier than others". No wonder her reflux is bad, I've been well over feeding her thinking she was just a hungry baby 😱 Your comment has really helped this afternoon. Awe explains a lot xx
Hungry baby milk is a scam (marketing con), it just makes them feel more full but isn’t actually doing anything good for them. Can I ask why you’re putting him on hungry baby? If he’s an October baby he can’t be that old it’s usually babies older than seem to go on hungry baby My little one has colic and reflux as when the symptoms first happened she was downing 5oz bottles every 2 hours because she wanted comfort but she didn’t actually want or need the amount she was rooting for so perhaps there’s a reason he’s wanting more than what he needs x
