Weight

Hey mamas. Just joined so if it’s been talked about I’m sorry. Before I was pregnant I was a size 2, now I’m a size 12. I feel so disgusting and fat. Yeah I had a baby and she’s the light of my life. What can I do mentally to feel better about myself

I’m so sorry to hear you feel disgusting, Size 12 really isn’t big I was size 12 before a baby 😭 but I’m not devaluating your feelings just trying to make you feel better, your body has gone through so much it took 9 months to get to that stage give ur self 9 months to think about getting it back

I’ve struggled with this as well. I wasn’t able to start losing weight remotely until I stopped breastfeeding around 8 months pp, but i’m just starting to look and feel like myself again at nearly a year pp. I am really wanting to give myself more grace next pregnancy, because I have been SO hard on myself. You GREW a human being and housed life. Time. Every body is different. I’m not big into working out persay, but I’m making it an objective to move my body (10 minute ab circuits, evening walk, morning yoga class, etc)

Size 12 is smaller than average for UK so deffo not big although I appreciate going from a 2 to a 12 would feel like a lot to you probably. How old is baby? If you’re over the 6 week mark and feel ready then start some exercise daily even if it’s going for a walk and you can always start healthy eating well before the 6 week mark but just be careful if you’re BF that you’re getting enough calories and water intake x

I gained 80lbs my first pregnancy, lost 70lbs of that in 6 months and then gained 60lbs my second pregnancy when I got pregnant 9 months PP 🥲 before even getting pregnant I had lost 60lbs just prior to my first pregnancy so it was heartbreaking to lose all that progress and even gain more. Mentally I just had to tell myself it was temporary, I could get myself back down or close to it once I was healed up and good to exercise again but you can start by eating healthy right now if you’re not cleared to exercise just yet. I had lost 30lbs in 2 months just by eating clean and healthy with no exercise right after my first was born. I’m currently on my weight loss journey again almost 3 months PP and have once again lost 30lbs from eating right and right now going to pelvic floor therapy 2x a week. I’ll be getting my gym membership this week to start weight lifting with a bit of cardio to boost the pace of my weight loss since the more muscle your body has the more calories your body burns.
