@Kris hm that’s so interesting i guess every place really is different
I am having non-stress tests but only because my pregnancy is high risk, I don’t think my doctor’s office offer them as standard unless it’s a high risk pregnancy, or I’ve also heard people getting them if baby goes overdue
My doctors office has me doing them even tho im not high risk. My last doctor never did it for my other 3. So im guessing it really depends on the doctor
I don’t think NSTs are common unless you’re high risk. I even had GD last pregnancy and never had a NST, just had to do weekly growth scans (typically I’d get only 2…the first initial one and then the 20 week anatomy scan). I’m considered high risk this time around too since my past history with GD and gestational hypertension at the end and I just had my first NST a couple days ago but only bc baby’s baseline heartbeat was elevated when she did the Doppler. I will say that my office started doing fundal heigh checks, checking to see if baby is head down and cervical checks two weeks ago at 36 weeks. I’m 37 weeks now. If you’re wanting to know that stuff ( I def would want to know!) I’d ask at your next appointment for them to check and tell you. I’d think they should be doing all that stuff by now too.
My office doesn’t do anything but listen to the baby’s heart beat unless you are high risk. I have a risk of having overly big babies so I did just have a growth ultrasound. I’ve only had one NST and that’s because my placenta shifted and I couldn’t feel my daughter move so they did one to make sure she was good.
Relatable lol at advice from our mothers… the other day I mentioned how I didn’t want guests over when I’m wearing “mom diapers” to my mom and she looked at me like I was ridiculous. Apparently they didn’t have those back in the day, therefore “I won’t really need them” lol okay well I’m kinda happy doing whatever is standard in 2024 thanks though 🥲
My last ultrasound was at 36wks to confirm baby’s position, and they asked me if I wanted to do a non-stress test at my 37wk appt, which I did (no risk to me or baby). Otherwise, they measure fundal height, manually feel abdomen for baby (like how low he is in my pelvis), and are non-invasive. Unless I ask for a cervical check, they won’t perform one until 40wks.
Mine is the same, no urine tests, no fundal height. I literally just get heart doppler a couple of questions and then rush me out. All of my pregnancies were in washington and I would say they did the most lol then moved to New mexico and they do nothing with my new pregnancy.
