I’ve found that my son is much more interested in independent play when I hide some of his toys for a few months and then rotate them when he gets bored of what’s out.
Mine has always played by himself. The only things we do together are coloring or painting or crafts and when we go to the playground. Otherwise he has always entertained himself with his toys
@Megan @Ashley Thanks you two for the tips! 🫶🏼
I sit on the floor and if she climbs into my lap I put her on the floor next to me and distract her with a doll and play at the house or if we're at her play kitchen then I pretend to cook. Now she's 21mths and plays by herself while I cook, clean, or read or whatever. I don't interrupt her play either. I don't ask questions about what she is doing. I just watch from the camera or if im in the room then I just make sure to watch her. In the kitchen we have a helper stand and then a bin of toys that stick to the window or that spin. And then we have a bottom cabinet with old pots and pans for her to play with and tea bags haha this is really helpful when im cooking or folding laundry and she needs to be in the same room.
No tips just solidarity. My daughter is the same way, and just wants to be involved in everything i do
My son loves to be with me also and loves to be held. I rarely plays independently but if I make dishes/cleaning like a game he likes to help. It does take forever to get things done though lol. While I’m making dinner I bought a stand for him to stand in and give him some of the food to help get ready like putting fries on a sheet pan.
