CMPA

Any little babas being diagnosed with CMPA or in the process of? We are in the process as Sonny had a rash, but I’m really not sure if it is CMPA- I thought he had more of a viral infection which is what the initial doctor said. Here is a rash that he had but it cleared in its own. Struggling to get him to take the hypoallergenic milk the dr has prescribed. Having to wean him on to it.

It's hard to diagnose, especially in the first 6 weeks or so as so many symptoms are similar to common newborn behaviour and 'conditions'. I queried it with my first born mainly due to hee nappies and digestive discomfort. She was BF and I cut dairy and soy for 6 weeks, then ate a load of dairy bit she didn't react so knew that she didn't have CMPA. The only way to know for certain is elimination diet and then re introduce and check for a reaction. Does your little one have other symptoms beyond the rash?

@Sîan he was very fussy with feeds but only at certain times of the day, mainly 5.30-9pm. The doctors have prescribed me SMA Althera but he won’t take to it so mixing it with his aptamil and will slowly wean him. The dr did say to put him onto the SMA then reintroduce the aptamil to see how he reacts. Xx

Personally I'd say that sounds like normal witching hour behaviour, even formula fed babies can do the fussy behaviour that's usually done to stimulate mothers milk supply. In regards to not really wanting the new milk I did hear from other mums that the allergy milks can taste quite different and lots of kids are fussy to it. Just try keep a diary and see if you spot any links between intake and symptoms. Rashes usually come up quite quick after or during feeds for example. Hopefully it is just something viral and /or a particularly fussy newborn 🤞x

I hope so, I just feel drs are forcing me to give him the other milk x
