Congenital ptosis

Does anyone have a baby who has congenital ptosis (droopy eyelid)? If so, did you opt for surgery ? How was the outcome if you did, pictures would be nice! My 3 month old has had it since birth and the doctors recommend surgery at some point either now or later but she will most likely need it for her vision to develop properly and prevent lazy eye. I am scared and nervous for surgery but also don’t want her vision to be impaired if we can do something now. Thank you in advance.

I don’t have experience with ptosis in babies/kids but I work in an eye theatre and we do ptosis for adults. It’s pretty straightforward surgery to do with very good results if that helps a little bit.

@Alexandra is it true that the eye doesn’t close all the way after? That’s another concern of mine :(

It can happen at times but it will resolve itself. Very rarely people need a second surgery.

@Alexandra okay! The surgeon told me that would happen but I looked it up it said that it usually temporary and would resolve on its own in time. He wants to do a frontalis sling … is that what you have seen in adults too?

No, never seen that in adults, sorry

@Alexandra what kind of surgery have you seen in adults for ptosis repair?

They normally do anterior approach ptosis surgery
