Help reading growth chart

Hey so I’m having growth scans because of my BMI being too high for the normal tape measurement. But I’m seeing all these other December mums having their babies and sharing their growth scans and saying they may have to be induced. Just wondering, how do you know? I don’t even understand the percentiles either. Could someone look at my chart please and let me know what I’m supposed to be looking at. Is my baby big or small? Thanks!! 🩷 Fundal height pic in comments

They look bang on average. Middle line will be the 50th centile - e.g average.

As the previous poster said, average so no need for induction based on baby weight

Looks pretty good to me. They will only induce you for a specific reason, think if high BMI is the only reason and they haven't said anything then they are happy to let things happen naturally. I'm being induced due to gestational diabetes

Okay that helps! That’s ladies ☺️

Baby’s measuring just below the 50th centile and following their growth curve. Cooking nicely in there 😊

Your baby is exactly the weight they expect it to be. That middle line bubba is plotting on is the 50th centile, which basically represents the average or perfectly expected weight. The WHO centile charts in the red books work on the average of the population, the centile charts in pregnancy are personalised based on maternal factors and previous pregnancies, I have no idea how they work them out tbh! But with the standard centile charts 50th centile is the average, if your baby was on the 75th centile it would mean your baby is bigger than 75% of babies the same age as them and so on. Then there is the curve, it represents the expected growth over time. If the baby suddenly drops down or shoots up in growth it can indicate an issue, they should be following their expected curve. Yours is on the 50th centile and following their curve, so doing great.

@Rebecca fab explanation! Thank you so much for this ☺️ I was gonna say, the consultant never has much to say after my scans so I guess that’s a good thing!
