@Abi🫶🏼 she has milk pretty much last thing, we brush teeth after milk then to cheer her up we read a book or 2 then it’s bedtime. I dunno how to extend the time between milk and brushing her teeth 🫣
Water can help rinse away sugars too. Once eating try to get her to drink some water. My LO only does it herself she won't let me get it much so it's hard to get them actually clean. But water does help a bit
We’re in the same position as our girl has her milk last thing too. We manage to brush her teeth about half hour later when she’s asleep (we don’t get as good as in the morning tho) x
@Christine yes with every meal she has water and finishes with water. It’s just the milk before bed and milk around 5am. We don’t brush after the 5am milk but we will after breakfast
@Abi🫶🏼 my girl falls asleep with a dummy, so I’ve no idea if she would even let me brush them while she’s asleep. It’s really difficult. I’m just feeling awful about them being yellow and I don’t really know why!
So does ours. I know how you feel! We went through a couple months ago hers being a bit yellow round the tops but it seems to have gone.. whether it just went or whether it was thru brushing her teeth I’m not sure tbh!x
@Abi🫶🏼 her top teeth aren’t fully out yet I don’t think, and they only came through a few months ago. I will try brushing them while she’s asleep. I mean if it doesn’t work it’s only one night of no brushing.. x
Don’t brush teeth straight after milk. You shouldn’t brush teeth for 30 mins after food or drink and they shouldn’t eat or drink for 30 mins after brushing to ensure the fluoride has time to do its job. Brushing straight after milk will destroy her enamel as you’re essentially rubbing the sugar in. I’d say try and make brushing into a game. We sing the same song and brush our teeth at the same time as baby in the mirror so it’s fun rather than something to be feared/ unpleasant x
@Yasmin I wasn’t aware of this, dentist never told me that either! I will try and offer her milk before her bath and leave enough time for 30 minutes to be up; or I’ll brush while she’s asleep.. I didn’t realise! Maybe the yellowing is no enamel then.. X
We are having the same problem and I’m so upset about it! X
@Rebecca I’m feeling really disheartened about it 😭 the bottom ones are fine it’s just the top! I think I’m going to get her in at the dentist for advice. Then I’ll update this thread!
We’re the opposite, it’s only our boy’s bottom ones! Would be good to hear what your dentist says. Ours still hasn’t seen the dentist, they keep cancelling his appointment! X
@Rebecca she is booked in for February for a check up but typically our dentist is quite good for ‘emergency’ appointments.. I’m just gonna make it out to sound a little worse than it is in the hopes we get in! I’m hoping I just get abit of reassurance if anything. It’s like I’m trying my hardest but still not enough!
My sons the same his bottom teeth are really yellow - we make sure we brush twice daily for 2 mins with electric brush but he hates it and puts his tounge in the way - it’s impossible sometimes . Looks like you are doing pretty well xx

I know this helped ladies in my mums group: https://youtu.be/fPp5-6Z3gfM?si=CIDcpu82wQoNVfJT
@Yog tried this this morning and it did help, thanks!
@Jade it’s really difficult especially when you’re doing all you can! I’m hoping as they get older it gets easier 😂
You can also teach your baby “let’s do this first” so they know something they like will follow. ☺️ So pleased it helped!
@Yog oh she still cried the place down, I don’t think she quite understands that we’ve got to do it, she absolutely won’t do it herself. But, the tears stop as soon as I’m done and I give her a big cuddle, she puts her toothbrush away and wipes her face and turns off the tap, which she enjoys and then we read books 🫶🏼
I don’t have any advice really sorry! But if you can try not to brush straight after her milk if you can due to the sugar in it x
