I did mostly no screens till 1.5 and there was a lot of follow the leader (usually pretending to be animals), age appropriate crafts, constant reading, parallel play for cooking and cleaning, and a lot of time spent out of the house. I mostly gave up on that when I got pregnant with my now four month old but I still restrict it when I can so have added things like a magnetic white board for letters, magnet tiles, and a play couch for forts and obstacle courses.
Different toys that really engage imagination like magnet tiles. Also a lot of outdoor time
Depends for us too. We schedule moments in the day where we completely turn off the TV. I'll give them water and paint and let them go to town on their mat
No but I’m trying to balance it so she has more play time and learning time without the tv
We have a 1 yo and 4 yo and I have things we pull out every few weeks or even months, a mini trampoline, tent, holiday themed puzzles and activities, mini ball pit. Open ended drawing/coloring. We have one of those climbing triangles, stepping stones. Mini bean bags and hoops are a big fave, mini kitchen with food and little appliances. Books books books. We’re not 100% screen free because we watch a movie or a few episodes of bluey or trash truck but he stays really occupied.
yep we didn’t even own a tv until i ley my husband buy one last christmas for gaming lol and it’s only for that. we don’t let the kids have any screen time
My first child was 90% screen free. Now, with 3, we do very little screens but we also homeschool and use online curricula.
No, but it's limited. My little boy doesn't have any tablet or phone time. The TV only works if he's read 2 books.
Lots of reading, get out of the house twice a day, dancing to songs on spotify, drawing, play in the garden, get her involved in cooking lunch and dinner, change of scenery so if she’s getting a bit bored downstairs we go play with the different toys and books in her bedroom
We use it occasionally but more as background noise. Otherwise we do colouring, Lego/blocks play, outdoor play. Sensory stuff like oats in a tray and using little pots and lids for transferring.
Loads of books, plenty of involvement with what I'm doing (e.g. learning tower in kitchen, matching mini vacuum cleaner), Yoto, cousins, Lovevery toys for independent play
My eldest no, my youngest yes.
For my Older kids- Magnet tiles! Helping me around the house. If they are little just left them explore the house. When you let their brains learn to be “bored” and explore the world around them they become so much more interested in the world around them.
We’re getting a yoto box for the holidays

my house is not electronic free . But I do limit screen time . And we'll go outside play soccer, basketball or draw with chalk outside or color on the color book or draw a picture And sometimes he will free play other times we will play together
Hour a day if that.
@Jill we have LO’s about the same age. Keen to know if they have stories to captivate our LOs at this age. If so - I’d love to have one also
Wake up have breakfast , then she plays alone until I wash dishes and take shower around 11 we go outside until 2 , then came back lunch some music time , some picture time showing cards , then daddy comes from work he plays with her a bit till I do dinner 5is our dinner then getting ready for bed routine after 6 is bath some books and ,7 is bed time
We did no screen time until age 2 and only around 40 mins per week since then, she’s now nearly 5. Lots of books, involving her in everything you do and getting her to help, daily walks or bike rides. Ultimately though if they aren’t used to screen time they just learn how to do other things. Right now my daughter crafts a lot of the time.
We go through stages of practically no screen time, during those times it’s just lots of playing really, he’ll do some independent play or we’ll do it together, drawing, playing with magnet tiles is a favourite, puzzles, train tracks. If you can get out the house together, also cooking/baking is always fun :)
