Umbilical cord around baby’s neck

I am 31 + 4 and I went for a private scan yesterday and was told umbilical cord is around baby’s neck and that I should mention this at my next midwife appointment. Has this happened to anyone else and are you worried? Scared because how would I have known had I not had a private scan (as I have no other scans after 20 weeks on NHS). Couldnt this be more of a risk of still birth?

It's totally normal and really common :) my little girl was born with the cord around her neck and the midwives just check and move it before you do your final pushes 💜

When my daughter was born she had the cord wrapped twice around her neck. Apparently this is fairly common. I asked my midwife about this and she said it’s generally only an issue if it’s wrapped around 4 x for example. It wasn’t picked up on previous scans but everything was fine.

My son had it around his neck on the photo and when he came out it was around his neck 3 times. I had a very long cord.

I had the cord around my neck 3 times when I was born and I’m a healthyish 31year old and my son had it twice round his and he is a healthy 2year old. The midwives know what they are doing
