I would do half stuff for her and half baby stuff, maybe stuff like a couple of bottles of calpol, baby grows, (people bought us outfits that we never used, but you can never have too many baby grows) Ewan the sheep , we used it every night in Maisie’s crib, they are about £30.00 on Amazon, it’s like a white noise machine! Some nice bags of sweets, chocolates for her , bath soak for her for after the baby is worn, maybe even a bottle of wine, Muslin clothes are always handy, baby long sleeved plain vests to go under outfits, maybe a £30.00 next voucher that says - go and buy baby or you an outfit! hope that gives you some ideas xxx
Food/takeaway vouchers! Them first few weeks of getting into the swing of it can be hard xx
I think it can be different for everyone, but if someone was to do me a hamper I would have loved: food vouchers, Amazon/mammas and papas voucher, pack of nappies, wipes, sleep suits (2 way zip with built in mittens, they are a god send), nipple cream, pads and disposable underwear (I’m BF and had a vaginal birth so things like that have been a huge help), muslins, standard pack of baby grows, a book for baby, etc. I found that a lot of gifts I was bought was all very thoughtful stuff, but won’t get use until baby is 6 months old - which when you’re in the newborn trenches, it’s nice to be able to use those things from the very start xx
My work gave me baby toiletries nappies wipes chocolates and bath stuff for me and a couple of things for my older daughter and also a couple of outfits in bigger sizes x
could you try and ask the mum if there is anything she is yet to get, because I also remember getting bought duplicate of stuff / but agree with the vouchers above - a m&s or something is nice , can use online on a outfit but could also go and buy something for her or food as well xxx
I liked that my colleagues gave me newborn nappies, I packed them in my hospital bag. A baby bath thermometer would be useful, the frida snot sucker, comfy pair of slippers for mum to wear in the hospital. Definitely an Uber eats voucher.
Cuddledry towel, hand cream (o'keefes may not be the most 'luxurious' but it works), food delivery or restaurant gift card (not a 'fancy' restaurant so she doesn't feel the need to get too dressed up/put together but we went to a Greene King pub for a meal when baby was a few days old, she slept in her buggy and it was nice to get out and feel human again) Hair detangle spray and dry shampoo 😂 if shes anything like me she won't wash or brush her hair for about a month because it takes so long and baby always started screaming the moment I tried! I got a Tesco gift card from my colleagues which came in useful for both baby bits and some food shopping when smp kicked in!
A friend bought me a sleepsuit in newborn size and the same one in 12 mths so we can take pictures of her in both and thought that was a cute idea. Agree on maybe a takeaway / supermarket voucher. If you’re giving her the gift when she’s likely got a few weeks before the birth things like bath / face mask stuff could be nice for that limbo bit before baby arrives. Black and white cards, toys, books for early on with baby are cute too.
The things I loved from mine were a black and white ‘cot bumper’ (not actually a cot bumper but has ties on it) but used it standing up next to change mat, on floor, tied it to playmats etc was so good and she loved it for months. Also muslins and baby towels. Just eat voucher was so lovely.
Controversial, but give her the money! I was gifted so much stuff I didn’t or couldn’t use on baby. The money would have been more helpful!
Nappies, wipes, a baby blanket, baby grooming kit, baby bath stuff, cloth books, teething toys, some cute clothes like baby sleeper suits, baby socks, baby mittens, bibs, muslins, dummies. Maybe one of those cute Ewan the sheep white noise teddies. These are all things I use all the time.
