C-section recovery moms

Hey all! Any other C-section moms out there still recovering? I'm a little over 3 weeks postpartum and still feeling on and off discomfort and pain in my lower abdomen above my incision. Wondering if this is normal or if it will ever resolve? It keeps feeling like my belly is just forcefully hanging. Getting tired of it feeling like this.

I’m 4wks pp tomorrow and just started having so much nerve and some muscle pain in my pubic and hips area, I’m so ready for this recovery to be over with. My baby is getting heavy quick and it seems like that doesn’t help.

I'm also 4 weeks PP and am still having pretty significant nerve pain above my incision, like the skin between my belly button and my incision is super tender/sore to the touch. It also feels numb simultaneously so that's a weird sensation too.

Totally normal!! It was a major surgery mama. Take your time with the healing process. Did you get a belly binder? That helped me a lot I’m 3 and a half weeks pp

I’m currently on antibiotics because my incision got infected and I’m struggling so hard to keep myself together. My baby was born on November 20 the c section was hell on me for sure…

I’m having all the same symptoms and also apparently my bowels are protruding and the Dr says it’ll take time for it to go down

It's good to know we aren't alone in this even though I'm ready to have more control in my body again.

@Katie I've also been having some pubic pain and was concerned, but seems like it's just something that can happen. @MK Yes, the mixture of sensations is definitely weird. I have parts that also feel numb and it is hard to describe what it is like to people when they ask about it. @Natasha I had a belly binder from the hospital, but never felt like it fit quite right. I was hoping it would feel better by now and that I wouldn't continue to need one. I'm considering getting one though. Any recommendations on a good one?

@Katrina I'm sorry to hear about your infection. I had some concerns for that as well when I was in the hospital and did a round of antibiotics even though I'm not convinced I ever actually had an infection. I had some other problems that caused me to go back to the hospital though as I ended up with postpartum preeclampsia. That was pretty scary and I'm glad I caught it before it became more serious. Pregnancy can bring so many obstacles. @Tiffany that sounds rough. I hope you are able to recover more quickly than expected.

I actually use a waist trainer cause I felt the same with the belly binder after awhile! I can’t remember the exact one I got but I think any waist trainer will help you. It’s definitely more tight fitting! I also can still use it now and when I’m cleared to go back to the gym!

I was originally due in November but had my section at the end of September. It took I’d say at least 2 months until I finally felt most of the soreness subsided. Don’t worry give it time. Just keep the area dry and let it air out after showers. Like someone mentioned already, it was a major surgery! Take it easy

Btw I’m reading about binders. I wanted to mention that the binder shouldn’t sit over your incision. This was told to me by a doctor. It helps with not feeling so much discomfort especially when you cough and sneeze but just be careful not to put so much pressure on it. Hope this helps

Sandy is correct. I used my waist trainer to hold my belly part up so it’s not hanging over my incision causing me more discomfort!

@Natasha and @Sandy Fatima thank you both for the advice and tips. It's good to know that it's ok for it to still feel this way. Definitely trying to take it as easy as possible.

I’m 5wks pp and yes girl I felt so much pain at 3 weeks. I went back to the hospital twice bc of the pain. They told me it was nerve pain and put me on gabapentin which helped a little but the pain came back. But I can say it did get better, I am currently back to my normal self but it did take awhile and the pain was horrible before it got better. I hope you feel better soon hun

@Kiarra thanks for your response. I'm just hoping the pain continues to be a normal amount of pain and it is not due to something else being wrong.

I understand that. But also trust your body, if you have that gut feeling something just ain’t right go to the ER and get checked out. You have a baby that needs you and you have to make sure you’re good so you can take care of your baby. Good luck with everything hun
