Invalidity

The last months have been really rough. Facing homelessness, my boyfriends car being taken shortly after, it’s been a financial rollercoater with more downs then ups. Our baby is due is February….dont have a crib or bassinet no car seat no clothes or anything. Didn’t get to have a maternity shoot like I’ve always wanted and I can’t even have a baby shower because we just can’t afford it. I’m pretty much not allowed to or not supposed to or don’t have any right to complain about the way things are because I’m not doing anything to help financially so basically whenever I get in my mood about all the things I wish I had all the things I don’t have I’m just told I’m complaining all I do is complain I’m always negative etc etc……I be really needing a therapist to talk and vent to without the idea of being a burden because I’m “negative” or “complaining” maybe I really don’t have the right to be sad or complain about anything idk because I don’t bring in any income coming in. But sometimes I just feel like my feelings aren’t validated……at least not enough….i get the why why worry about the things you can’t change. But still it fuckin sucks

I got my car seat and crib for free through a program called Florida healthy start. Idk what state you’re in but a lot of them have programs for free cribs and car seats and there are also community baby showers where you get some really cool gifts. It’s nice because there are a lot of other pregnant woman and couples there and even woman who have kids. They have gifts for everyone and help you find resources as well

@Alisia do you have to have like proof of residency or an id ?

In Philly we have a car seat program as well. Google your town/city and put car seat program. You never know. Cribs4kids is how I got 2 pack n plays for my twins. The obgyn or the hospital you give birth at may assist in other freebies. Also Facebook is great for finding stuff people are giving away. I have given away some stuff as I have no use for them or sell really cheap. Search buy/sell groups or donation groups in your city or state.

Also if you have an iPhone get ya man to take pics of you in portrait mode! Search up on Pinterest or TikTok DIY ideas. I didn’t get to do any photoshoot either cause I had my kids early but I was gonna do this option cause they are expensive as hell anyway.

I believe you just have to show an ID but each program can ask for something else it’s called “healthy Start”

Your insurance will provide a breast pump if you are going that route and apply for wic while you are pregnant if you aren’t on it already. They will give you fruits and veggies now and give more when the baby comes.

Join Facebook groups for moms, I got almost everything I needed for free on there. Also you can have a small baby shower at home with home baked and cooked goodies. I rented a free venue from the military (my friend got a free venue from a church) and I served homemade meatballs and sandwiches, we got lots of gifts and it was fun. I think our budget didn't exceed $150 and the gifts were way over that. So it could be worth it!

Also hit up photographers that are just starting out and ask if they'd be willing to do a model call, that's how I got my maternity photoshoot for free. My baby has been very cheap so far because I got almost everything by doing hard work and searching everywhere for free cause we just bought a house.
