Think it depends on their surnames, my wee brothers aunt had this and her kids had the dads (ex husband) surname so she needed a letter of consent to take them abroad

I’ve taken my son from a previous relationship on holiday lots of times (with a different surname to me) & never needed a letter. Even when going to America I was prepared with birth certificates & marriage certificates just in case to show name changes etc but still never needed them! Haven’t bothered taking anything to any other country x

I’m going away in 2 weeks and have a different surname to my daughter so I have gotten a letter from her dad that includes his contact details and I’m taking her birth certificate. Some people get asked, some don’t. I think it also depends on the kids ages as my daughter is 9 and will be able to tell them who we are if she’s questioned too.

Also depends on the country, where is it your going?x

Portugal for 7 days none of them have been abroad before .

Depends on the country . My husband used to work in Iraq and I took my daughter abroad all the time . We needed it once for Thailand but absolutely fine the rest , you’ll be fine in Portugal xx

I just took my daughter on holiday in August with my partner and our kids together, 3 different surnames and we never got questioned, I had asked my ex if he would give me a letter to say it’s okay incase I needed it but it was okay
