Taking LO abroad

Hi everyone My LG will be 16 weeks next week, but 10 weeks of corrected age. We'd previously planned that my partner's parents would visit us for Christmas, but his dad died last month in Nigeria, and his mum doesn't want to travel anymore. My partner has left for Nigeria to attend the funeral. We don't want his mum to spend Christmas alone, so I'm considering flying down with our LG. I'm a bit worried about travelling alone with her and if she'd be to cope with the stress of the flight and most importantly if it's safe for her to go. She's been doing really well and has put on good weight, but I'm just worried as it's unfamiliar territory for me.

Sorry for your loss ❤️ that’s a tricky one though especially with a newborn. Is she unable to travel at all or just refusing to? The flight bit is the easy part, we started flying with our daughter around 9 weeks out long haul and they really are easy travellers. The tricky part is she will need a passport, a Nigerian visa and at least her first jabs. I feel like I needed my yellow fever vaccine to visit but that was over a decade ago so I might be wrong 🤔

Given that she was premature I would check with your doctor to get the ok for the flight. I’m sure it’s probably fine but worth checking.

@Sarah Thank you. She's refusing to and is trying to respect traditions of mourning for 40 days. She's had her first 2 jabs and is due her 16 weeks jabs next week. We've applied for an Emergency Travel Certificate and hope it's approved.

@Sophie thank you, I've booked an appointment with the doctors.
