What do you do to entertain your child?

Nothing I do seems to make my son happy for more than 5-10 minutes. We go outside for walks but I can't do that all day. We opened an early Christmas present and that didn't last long. I do play with him but I start getting bored quickly when I normally switch with my husband when it's too much but he leaves for a trip. My mother-in-law is coming to watch him next week and I feel sorry for her because I can't seem to entertain him for 2 days alone for a whole week. What do you all do? He is normally at daycare and has a million toys there and other kids to play with.

Lots and lots of outings! My girl is social and loves to be around other kids so play dates, childrens museum, parks, etc.

I dont entertain my children. I set up the environment for them to entertain themselves. You were never meant to be playing with him all day long. At day care, he’s playing on his own I promise. Even when her older brother is gone, she plays by herself with toys for like 20 minutes at a time unless she’s hungry. Have your child watch or help you cook, rotate out toys and get up and do what you need to do.

We go out for a morning activity and then usually the playground in the afternoon. I took my daughter to the mall to walk around this wekeend because it was too cold outside, she loves it. We will do library times at various libraries, indoor playgrounds (free at the mall and the nonfree ones) the pet store walk around Home Depot looking at holiday stuff

Definitely mix it up with indoor and outdoor play. The fresh air will help tire them out and they should sleep good for nap time and bedtime. I also leave the TV on for music and educational programs.
