Do you teach your children table manners?

Like not putting their elbows on the table and staying seated until everyone is finished?

I don’t really care about the elbows as that’s more of a silly thing to me and I want them to be comfortable but we definitely do the not getting up until you’re excused thing and also not talking with food in your mouth

We do everyone stays at the table until everyone is finished (stops them eating too fast to get away sooner) but I don't care about elbows on table

Elbows I’ve never mentioned, since I’m pretty sure I put my elbows on the table. But she does have to ask to be excused from the table.

The specific things you mentioned, no. Don’t care about elbows on the table lol. And it’s not developmentally appropriate for young kids to have to sit in one place for long periods. My toddler is already very polite though and uses thank you and you’re welcome often without prompting.

@GMF agree!

I'm not worried about elbows, if they are eating they have to stay sitting and they can't get up unless they are done. I will make them wait until one of us can clean their hands but I don't make them sit the whole meal as our oldest is only 3. I do enforce a you have to try 1 bite of a new food before you leave. If they don't like the food they can spit it out and we will get something else but they have to at least taste it once and 98% of the time we have no issues with that
