I was told it can take three weeks to get in your system and sometimes symptoms get a bit worse before better. At that time it was really not what I needed to hear but I rode it out and it’s definitely helped taking it on a low dosage. Other things have contributed too … half an hour / and hour to myself when baby goes to bed, sometimes meditating, I started a Pilates class, swimming lessons with my baby, lots of playgroups to get out of the house and therapy once a month (was going more often when I was bad). It’s all helped so much x
I've been on them for years and had experiences of going up/down and changing types. It's not fun, but once they are in your system and working, you will be thankful for some relief! Often Dr's start you on 50mg, I suggest you splitting the pills and taking 25mg and build up after a week, if you get put up higher (100mg, 150mg or 200mg) ask the Dr's to give you a pack of 50mg and use them to slowly pace yourself up again. In my experience, 200mg made my symptoms extremely worse. 100mg has been my constant for a long time. I have now been diagnosed with Autism and ADHD, which has helped massively with managing my needs and preventing me from getting so burnt out. Happy to talk if you want too xxxx
I hope you're okay - my advice would be to give the setraline a little bit longer & then speak to your GP again about the dosage xxx
