Entertainment

How are yall keeping yall 2 month old entertained? My daughter seems to like tv but I do limit her tv time. She has been watching Mickey Mouse. I was told tv time isn’t good for babies so I need help.

Tv isn’t too bad for babies if it’s limited. Things like Miss Rachel or anything with a person speaking in a setting that’s similar to 1 on 1 are good as they still help baby develop expression/emotional/language skills! When my LO was 1-3 months we mostly did story books with big pictures, we did a lot of colour play too so I had brightly coloured blocks and we would sort and stack them and I’d let her examine them and stuff. Lots of things with Melodie’s and different textures for her to feel and listen to as well were good! Her wake windows were like 2 hours MAX at that time so by the time she’d eaten and been changed and stuff she only had like 30-40 mins of time to fill 😅

She also watches bear in the big blue house and has done since she was super small. It calms her down she loves it! Plus all the diff characters and things they learn and entertaining for her :) If you have Disney+ they have a thing called dory’s reef I think. It’s a loop of basically just all the finding nemo fish like a reef cam. That was also rly good for her!

We kept tv from our kiddo for the first year of his life, and the most we did for entertainment was go about our regular daily activities while talking through the activity looking, smiling and laughing at him. There was time set aside for reading, singing and intentional active play, but ours was pretty chill so we put him up where ever we were, and let him vibe.

We don't let our baby watch TV. There's plenty to do with toys, tummy time and in his bouncers.

I think The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt should be read by all parents. It examines the rising levels of anxiety and depression in regards to about screen time/social media.

We didn’t use TV for the first 2 years and now it’s super limited. I would put her in a bouncer in front of the washing machine, in front of my shower while I showered, in front of me while I did the dishes, hang clothes to dry, etc…all those chores implied I was moving and she was interested and watched. Once she was around 6-7M I had a bouncer hanging from the door and she would hop and “exercise“ while I did those same things. Then when a bit older I had a standing bouncers and she would go wild in that 😂 I have a high activity child, so most of the time I was never able to finish a chore in one go. Id start and halfway through she’d request me, but then we would pick it up later on, its not perfect but we made it work and now she’s 2YO and doesn’t really like the TV more than 10min 😅
