Hello, wondering if anyone has an advice my daughter is 5 weeks old she’s been on pepti 1 and is now on nutrimagen (changed 3 days ago) and gaviscon but she’s still really unsettled during feeding and struggles to settle afterwards she’s often quite sick I’d say out of 8 bottles she’s sick after or during 6 of them she has quite loose bowels but has to really put in effort to go often and she always seems really uncomfortable and the past couple of days she’s been having these episodes of gasping for breath, she does also have a really bad nappy rash which has been since 3 days old which she’s currently having an antifungal cream for. Just really at a loss as to whether this is normal I don’t remember any of this with my first, I hate seeing her so uncomfortable is this reflux?

Awww I know the feeling I have twins who were so sick with every feed the washing was no joke. I was also so confused as my first 2 children weren't like this. I'd say your doctor thinks it is reflux as they gave gaviscon. Could it be a milk intolerance? As we got Pepti 1 as the doctor thought they were intolerant. My doctor did say there is a ladder of the milks so maybe you need one with no dairy, I'd say go back to the doctor and say you're still worried. We ended up at a&e a number of times the first few weeks as we felt it really wasn't normal and the doctor just kept sending us away. My girls also had Omeprazole which really helped one of them with the pain I felt like she was in. Now they are 10 months old and hardly ever sick.

@Sarah thank you I’m gonna contact the gp tomorrow I think because I’ve made a list of things that she’s doing that I don’t think are normal there’s 15 things on the list, which I’ve witnessed in the past 24 hours she’s been on the gaviscon for about a week and a half now so I would have thought some of these symptoms would have subsided xx

I don't know if gaviscon actually did anything for our girls as the sickness continued even once they went on to solids they were still very sick only the last 2 months or so it's got better. Omeprazole definitely helped one of my girls she would crunch her legs up and cry like she was in pain and her stools were a little bit green so I think milk helped with that. But we had to go back so many times. 🙄

@Sarah yeah my first wasn’t diagnosed with CMPA until she was 6 months old xx

@Jasmine 😳 I think it's awful how long they wait to do anything. The doctor told me apparently everyone finds it hard to digest milk when first born 🤷🏻‍♀️.

@Sarah oh really I’ve never heard that and yeah it’s nice that they’re actually trying to help this time but I’ve been quite pushy with the doctors xx

My baby was like this. Things I tried that I think helped: - lactose free milk (this was biggest. Can’t get on prescription unfortunately) - nappy off time for rash. An hour a day. Is hard if poo a lot, as mine did. It’s likely cos her poos are acidic. Anti fungal did nothing for us. - gripe water - osteopath - massage for wind - Omeprazole - holding upright after feeding

@Hollie thank you I’ll bare all these in mind xx
