If anything, I have music playing in the background ( my go to s are silly song playlists, or swing music ; old swing over electro swing , but upbeat swing or jazz music both work ) . Or I simply talk to him about what he's eating. Or just talk to him about basic things.
@Elizabeth yes, music is another big one we do if he’s not feeling like watching anything. My son actually really likes anything Frank Sinatra lol
@Adri upbeat jazz or swing and me clapping to a beat .... Was actually what got Ayden to clap at all ☺️😁
( or something else with a beat ...)
Tbh, I've never really planted him in front of a screen intentionally much at all ( granted he'll hang out with dad watching anime or gaming and sometimes fall asleep in his lap 🥺)
When I do start showing him educational programming, id probably go old school. The shows I watched as a kid ; 90s sesame Street, maybe some fraggle Rock, Mr Roger's neighborhood . These are not cartoons, but they are all very educational.
With my son we use YouTube channels like Ms Rachel, Ms Vale and Cánticos- my husband speaks Spanish so our son is going to learn both. He’s learned a lot from all of them like nursery rhymes, sign language, where his head is, things like that. It’s not for everybody, but I know it works for some. We give him about 20-30 minutes depending on if he’s just eating, or if we need to cook or clean. But we also give him some toys to play with as well so he’s not glued to the screen the whole time
