Emla numbing cream

Little boy is due his 1 year jabs next week. A few people have recommended I buy the Emla numbing cream. For those who have had their LO’s jabs, where do they inject in their thighs- as I will need to put the cream on that specific area… thank you in advance!

My girl had hers today The thighs were right near the top on the outside same as previous jabs The arms wasn't far below shoulders but honestly even without the cream my girl cried st each needle then when they was done she was fine and walked over to my mum I know every little one is different though Also I should add if baby has any eczema don't use the cream as it can make it worse, we was going to use it for a allergy blood test and was told not to due to eczema Hope this helps

@Emma-louise I don’t know if I should do a patch test? I don’t think he has eczema. Never had any signs that he does previously 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m definitely working it up in my head and then being told I should get the numbing cream to help. I mean it’s going to hurt him either way and I will cry lol

I wouldn’t worry about emla cream. It’s not a nice experience but it is over in less than a minute or two. Bring something after to distract your little one. I had her dummy, a book that she grabbed from the house and a snack. By the time I went to get her clothes back on, she was absolutely fine x

@Abbi I’ll definitely bring those things for him as a distraction. Thank you

I echo what Abbi said! It’s over very quickly and the tears although awful, last a matter of seconds. I went on my own and I was really anxious but honestly now, day 5, and aside from a temp the day of and after and a bit grumpy, she’s been fine. I hope it goes well for you! I took her dummy and then when it was done had a walk around the surgery room and it chilled her out instantly! She slept like a log too. X

@Chelsea it is hard watching them but without the cream my girl literally cries whilst they sid it ans that was that I put baggy clothes on with short sleeves so I just pulled the sleeves up and was over very quickly Obviously if you do feel you want to use tge cream that is fine too, we used it on my boy for a blood test and it worked wonders but definitely do a patch test at least 72 hours prior to using it as reactions can take 72hours to show
