@Jessica thank you this is really helpful! And something I can tell family members when they say 'but she's had her jabs now' my anxiety is through the roof since having our daughter so I can relate to you 😅
No problem, that's what my health visitor told me, so you can let people know that that's the advice from a medical professional if that helps! Also, the jabs are given over 3 appointments up to 16 weeks, so I don't think they've actually had their jabs until after the final set of immunisations at 16 weeks
I'll just say I'm not comfortable with people kissing my baby, jabs or no - full stop. 😤 It's other things such as cold sores that may not be visible yet on people but the virus is very contagious so noone should be kissing your baby, outside of your close family circle and only if you are OK with the doing that and NOT on the face, not ever. I might come across overly protective but all I've read and watched and personally how I am feeling are all justifications for this. So totally up to you, just sharing what I think 🤔 best of luck! And as Jessika says, absolutely OK to say NO so do as you are comfortable with and don't cater for other people.
Thank you girls. I'm so glad I'm not the only one that's uncomfortable with family kissing my baby! I feel like I shouldn't have to justify my feelings towards this but unfortunately I do 🤦
I've said never. Coldsores can pass when dormant and no symptoms whatsoever, so I've said just don't do it. As well as other germs x
My family and my husbands family are very respectful of our wishes thank goodness 🙏 even my mom doesn't kiss the baby and she's the one person I would allow but she knows not to without me having to say. If any of your friends and family don't comply with this and are putting pressed on you, they've no business being around a baby at all...
We've asked family to hold off until after cold and flu season, and even then we won't be letting people kiss her on the face. The jabs are a great way to protect baby from specific illnesses, but they won't protect from Cold, Flu, Covid, Tummy bugs, RSV, HSV which can all be spread via kissing. I do suffer from health anxiety though so I may be a bit more intense than some! At the end of the day though it's what you feel comfortable with. If it doesn't feel right to you then just remember that you can say no.
