I knew a girl named hadar growing up and I always liked the name! Pretty similar to Hagar , I think the D just comes off a little softer I guess
Well you must of chosen it for a reason, because you like it right? It’s a very unique name, one that I have never met. Who cares what people think like that’s the name you chose for your daughter and if people don’t like it then that’s there problem, but it’s up to you and your husband, if you want to change it you should but if you want to keep it you should also do that too. 🩷
I don’t think it’s horrible, but as an American who grew up reading Sunday cartoons in the paper it does make me think of the Hagar the Horrible comic.
I think the faces are just because it’s so unique? I can’t lie I pulled a little face when I read it 🙈😂 but you chose it for a reason, it will grow on people and little ones come into their names. I’m sure she’ll love how unique it is. I’d keep it
@Sylvia I wanted to call my first son Abraham but she turned out to be a girl so we went with the prophet Abraham’s wives instead. It was between Sarah and Hagar and I thought it was just more unique as I know no one with that name
@Gabriella Hadar sounds quite pretty actually 🤔
@Keirra thank you ❤️I did really like the name just people have kinda got me off it
@Blair that’s funny 😂😂🤣
I wouldn’t change it though. Name trends change so much that although u might feel you’re getting mixed reactions now, people are naming their kids crazy names now. My daughter’s name is Giada and everyone’s like huh?
@Gabriella you’re right! But don’t know why you’re getting looks, Giada sounds lovely !
Could she go by her middle name instead if you're unsure about her first name?
I wouldn’t say it’s horrible. it Reminds me of the character from a book called the stone angel we all had to read in school. It was a depressing book though and Hagar is maybe a bit too close to Hagard
I don’t live it but it’s no one’s business but yours if you like it keep it!
If that name holds meaning to u and its biblical keep it don’t worry about man God sees your intention x

I know a woman through work with that name and every time I come across it I think how cool her name is
Y can’t she change it herself? She may lie her name…. Idk the story tho gonna look it up….. concubine she was a slave and to bear the actual wife’s husband a son…. Idk, it’s not like a woman of power… I like originality but, like my name is Rebekah from the Old Testament.. but idk, maybe pray about it?
Hagar is a beautiful name and I went to school with a Hagar who was the most beautifully calm young lady. I do not like common names and I love Christian names from the bible so Hagar sounds perfect.
That's cool @incognito. Just a friendly reminder, the Bible never mentioned that Abraham was a prophet. And to be honest I love the name you choose for your daughter, it's unique. Ignore those faces.
@Gabriella My son's name is Paerodus and everybody's like what? Is it a Greek name? 😂
You chose the name for a reason, don't let other people put you off. If you still love it keep it. If not, I wouldn't change her name, maybe use her middle name or use a nickname.
@Diana that name is sick I love strong boy names
It's not a ugly or horrible name, how old is your daughter, have you asked her if she likes her name?
I named my youngest Alphonse. Yea, not everyone a fan of it. But it’s okay. I like unique names too. We’re doing Aizen or Annabella for the 4th baby(depending on gender I did nipt testing today so i will figure out soon)
I’m kind of on the fence. I like the unusualness of it and that it has meaning to you and think there’s something quite cool about it. I think I’d have assumed it was a boys name as quite strong sounding. Do YOU still like it? She’ll definitely get questions all her life, some people don’t mind this (I don’t) but others would 🤷🏽♀️ follow your instinct.
So if you like it, keep it. It’s your child not theirs.
I was named after my mother and I hated it my entire life I was a teacher and it was hard to choose a name for my son. I didn’t want a common one, but I also couldn’t decide on one after being a teacher. I also wanted to make sure it would be a name nobody could tease him or taunt him for either. Names are important. Kids grow up and people are mean too. If you feel like you should change it, then go for it. Otherwise leave it up to your daughter to change it if she wants to
Even if you change your daughter's name to something as common as Sarah, people will still find something to say or react oddly.
It’s okay when I was a kid (I grew up in church as well) I wanted to name my kids shadrach, meshach, and abednego and if I had a girl Sarah or Neveah (Heaven backwards lol) I personally love the name you picked out. My sons full middle name is Leviticus but I shortened it to Levi
She can go by Hay-bug while little and Hay when she’s older. If you like the name, that’s what really matters. I’ve never once had an influence on someone because I personally didn’t jive with their name 😆

@Gabriella Giada De Laurentiis! I love the name Giada it’s so pretty.
@Anna lol thank you!! Everyone either says oh Gianna! Or “like the chef” lmfao
How old is she? If it’s still early on I’d change it if it was me. The spelling reminds me of Haggard. Like a haggard person. I’m sorry that sounds harsh but you are asking. If you do love the name though, learn to handle the looks. Tell ppl “I can tell you don’t like the name but I could careless” I bet their face will change and they’ll go back to minding their business
Our son has a biblical name, we do shorten it but we love it so who cares? Lol
Curious to know the motivation behind giving her the name. It’s not bad just a bit unusual as I’ve never met anyone with the name.
