Measurements

So, I’m currently 33 plus 5 with my first baby. Baby is due the 31st Jan. At my last midwife appointment I was sent for a growth scan, as he’d dropped from the 97the centile to the 57th. The scan went fine, and he was measuring on the 97th centile after all. I’ve had my 34 week midwife appointment today, and currently measuring above the 97th centile. I’m being sent for a further growth scan on Saturday, as baby is currently measuring at 38 weeks. Is this normal? If baby is measuring at 38weeks, what’s likely to happen? Is anyone else in a similar situation? ❤️

They might suggest induction and or possibly C-Section

At my 36 week appointment last week I was measuring 41 weeks. I have my growth scan app at 2:30 today, so I’ll see what they say! But I don’t feel that big so it was a shock 😂xx

He is just a big baby by the sounds of it. We are due the same day! I’m also having a boy, he’s on 93rd centile weighing 5lb 9oz I was 33 weeks at time of scan xxx

Remember a big baby isn’t a reason to induce. I wish I’d told them to bugger right off, worst experience, they induced me before baby was ready, obv body wasn’t ready either and ended up 5 days of literal torture to end in sepsis and c section. 0 fearmongering here just want to explain what happened to me and how I wished they’d just left me alone tbh

My first baby was born at 39+1 at 9lbs which was 97% and I was able to do a natural vaginal birth 🙂 I was pushing for a while because it was hard to get her shoulders out but you could definitely still have a normal birth, just wait and see what your doctor says! However you might have to have baby early, I know if I had gone any further I would probably have needed a C-section. There will always be bad and good stories but I had a relatively quick and easy induction with pitocin

@Megan oh Megan that’s awful! So sorry you experienced this. However inductions can also go super smooth and great. I had such a good experience being induced. No interventions needed, even though it was a long 15 hours. I think everyone’s bodies reacts completely differently and you just have to do what you feel is right for you and your baby. You’d never know what the outcome would be and there pros and cons to waiting it out/being induced. So please don’t be worried if you do need to be induced x

Let me know how it goes cause I was measuring at 99.9% at 34weeks and been told a c-section would be best. I was also given the option of an induction too but we decided against it (not knowing how my body would react) I have another scan on Christmas Eve to decide if the c-section will be in my 36th or 37th week. I definitely know the stress of waiting. Sending good vibes and hope all goes in your favour.

*My official due date was 21st Jan*

Hi there 34 weeks here, due 26th Jan, my boy was at above 95 in scans and last midwife check, the last ultrasound it was only his head that was measuring big but his overall was in 70 percentiles ~ tomorrow is my 34w midwife appt, not sure what the measure will be but that's not always accurate I've been told (the manual measurements by midwife) ~ I'm curious to find out more tomorrow and will update you if it turns out to be a similar outcome ☺️ good luck and as long as you're both healthy, it doesn't really matter how or when, big hugs 🤗

@Megan I was the same, but they let me go to 42+3 and he destroyed me. To the point I have to have a section now as he was took big to birth I haemorrhaged massively. I wish they induced sooner

@Caitlin how did it go lovely? Curious to know. Hopefully all is well! Xx

@Megan it was really good she was measuring absolutely fine! On the chart she was perfect and weighed 6 pounds 5 at 37 weeks ❤️ xxx
