Birthday party vs flu/cold season

Hi all my daughter has a birthday party this weekend She’s never really had a birthday party it’s always canceled for one reason or another. This year her birthday party weekend has rain in the forecast and will force us to be indoors instead of outside in the park. With that being said I’m worried about any sickness coming into the house mainly because I have a 5 month old and I don’t want her to get sick either. My question is should I proceed to have her party or cancel it again? Sucks to cancel because she’s been so excited about it but do I weight risk over benefit?

Maybe have alcohol free hand sanitizer around

I wouldn't cancel. Of course we want to avoid our kids to get sick but isolate them won't help at building their immune system. You can have a great party with only some kids to limit risks but I wouldn't cancel.

if they have strong immune systems, i wouldn’t worry too much. if they don’t, i would keep hand sanitizer available like the previous comment said & start working on building their immune systems so you don’t have to worry about things like this in the future. if you need some advice on that you can message me.✨

I wouldn’t cancel it. Not sure how old she is but mine would be crushed. Bad enough her birthday one year the whole class came down with a nasty bug and she actually missed her own birthday due to illness as slept through it (thankfully not her party) but it was touch and go if she’d be able to make that and then she had 11 cancel due to illness. Joys of a December birthday.

How old is she?? I would ask everyone to wear masks if they’re old enough. But have some hand sanitizer for sure. Especially since you have a five month old. Could you reschedule for an outdoor time??

to clarify my last comment, I would keep hand sanitizer handy either way. i realized my wording didn’t at all reflect my thoughts on germs or having lots of people around lol. my girls & i have super immune systems but i’m still very much a germophobe 😅

I always sent a disclaimer on the invitation so people wouldn’t come if they had any cold or allergies symptoms. Flush their nose a few times during the party and clean the house afterwards. She will be fine ❤️

@Nestlē✨ I am too lol my partner says I’m worrying too much but I can’t fathom the thought of germs going around everywhere lol.

@Ana Moore this is a great idea! Can I use the Neil med sinus rinse for them as well? I’ve seen people do it but with a medicine syringe

@Ivy I guess I could reschedule but I’m also unsure what next weeks forecast would be. I can only see up to Thursday and there’s rain for that day so then I’d be stuck with the same situation lol. She’s 5

I use this one that is gentle for infants https://a.co/d/bZhYpJ8
