High percentile

Hi ladies, is anyone’s baby measuring in the higher percentile? I am a little confused by my recent scan. I am 28 weeks and she’s coming in at the 83rd percentile. I have been told she has long legs which we expected as we are tall, but her abdomen is on the bigger side which I believe is not good. I’ve tested negative for gestational diabetes though so not sure what else could be causing this. Anyone else in the same boat and been given advice from a consultant or midwife. I am feeling a wee bit nervous.

Iam in the 90 percentile and midwife had no concerns that I believe as she didn’t say anything like there was x

some babies are just bigger! all babies are different sizes. I think as long as they didn’t mention any concerns, i wouldn’t worry. it’s not necessarily all about percentiles as it is staying on that percentiles growth chart. so not a problem that baby is 83rd percentile if they stay that way, but would be if she went from the 83rd to 30th or the opposite for example ❤️ if they have any concerns they will tell you! they have no reason to hide things. if you cannot shake the worry, ring the midwife for an appointment, and ask for a debrief of the scan as they will be able to tell you from your notes xxx

Thanks ladies. I have a consultation appointment next week with a doctor so I will be sure to seek some more guidance then. For now, I am happy with my life giraffes progression ha!

Hey Kelly. I had a 98th percentile baby in 2021! I needed more growth scans in the last few weeks and met with the consultant regularly to check all was well bjt was signed off for a home Birth even though he was big. It was fine, had a vaginal delivery didn’t need assistance. He was born 9lb and has always been very tall! At 3 he’s nearly 2/3rd my height 😬 but his daddy is very tall Growing another one currently on 97th percentile! Don’t worry too much - it’s all new so I know it’s stressful but it’ll be fine. Probably just a few more chances to see your little one on scans which I quite liked!
