Baby has a “large stomach”

I went for my 20week scan today and was told my baby has a slightly large stomach. I was told it could be one of two things 1. Eating to much sugar 2. Pregnancy diabetes The midwife also said that if baby becomes to large then I could possibly have to have induced labour Has anyone else had an experience like this and if so could you share some stories to help ease my mind a little 🩷

I’m now 35 weeks and my baby also has a “juicy belly” as long as the growth remains consistent I was told nothing to worry about just a little chunky! Mine is 70th percentile for everything apart from stomach where he is 95th! I haven’t been tested for GD and have had a pretty plain sailing pregnancy! Hope this helps ease your mind a little. 🤍

I was told throughout my pregnancy my boy had a large stomach, and then at 37 weeks was told the growth had tailed so had to be induced at 38+6 and he was born healthy at 7lbs 7 xx

Ive had the same as being told his got a bigger stomack but nothing to worry about..

I was told my daughter has a little but a lot over average when I had my 12 week scan. Turns out my daughter was in the perfect range of weight when born. Please please don’t let the doctors and midwives scare you. I gave birth naturally. A week before my induce date with no complications what so ever during and after birth. She is now a thriving 9 almost 10 month old. Take their advice please but don’t let them scary you with the other options of birth xxx

I was told the same at my 20w! She didn’t seem concerned but just said baby girl is measuring big, I’m trying not to worry about GD until I have the test and find out if I have it or not xx

Our baby had a big belly throughout pregnancy - he was Infact born normal size and of a good weight! Those scans can be so inaccurate. It's definitely not down to you eating too much sugar xx

I was told my babies had big heads, big tummies and very long legs… The second they were so worried about his legs that they suggested induction, which makes no sense as the legs don’t come out sideways and are certainly narrower than the head. Needless to say, both babies went just over their estimated due dates at 40+1 and 41+2 with no complications and were happily 95th and 98th centiles. I didn’t have GD, just their genetics.

I was told this and was diagnosed with diabetes. Baby came out 9lbs and absolutely perfect x

Not stomach but I was told my boy would be off the scale big born. He was going to be a 10lb+ baby. He was born 39+6 via emergency section after 5 long days of induced labour at just 7lb 11.5oz, sitting on the 40th centile. He is now 2 and a half, still wearing 18-24 months clothes and very dinky. Miles away from the huge baby I was supposed to birth x

Had two pregnancies with big bellied babies. Diagnosed with gestational diabetes twice. First was diet controlled but needed to take metformin with the second. Induced for both (neither was a good experience so I won’t share details to worry you). First born vaginally at 8lbs 9oz, second had to be an emergency cesarean at 9lbs 5oz.

I had this at my 20 week (found again at 36 when I had a growth scan). Didn’t make any change to my care but she was born 39+3 at 9.7lbs with Inductuon - that was due to her size being picked up at 39 due to a scan for reduced movement. Labour went fine and no problem with her size! She’s big for her age now still and she’s one
