What do you do with your baby when they’re awake?

My 3 month old is awake a lot during the day and I have no idea what to do with him. It seems like he wants to be entertained all the time, and I’m running out of energy / ideas. He’ll watch the mobile in his crib for ~20 minutes at a time throughout the day, but that’s the only solo activity he enjoys. He has a tummy time play area, but hates it haha. Let me know what you all are doing to keep your baby happy and stimulated throughout the day!

I’m having the same issue. I started wearing him actually and picking up stuff around the house. Along with some good dance breaks. He has a play mat in the living room, I’ll put him in his crib while I’m putting away his laundry. I definitely need more ideas tho

Get toys with colorful lights, rattles, black and white contrast toys, listen to nursery rhymes or Disney music, read to them, and let them watch some kids shows with you! They like looking at lights, listening to music, and hearing your voice!

I literally walk around with my son in the carrier and he falls asleep usually but when I try to put him down he’ll sleep for just a few minutes lol I also have a bouncer for him I have him either watch me while I clean up around the house and talk to him or play with his feet as I move around

we read to him, dance with him, he has that fisher price piano playmat that he loves, tummy time, we sing to him, its too cold now but wed take him on walks. because its too cold we just walked around the mall! sometimes we let him just sit in the bouncer and then we’ll narrate what we’re doing like folding laundry lolll

he watches me do all the things- cooking, cleaning while I talk and sing to him and walks I take him for 2-3 walks a day

He enjoys chewing on his fingers and grabbing his feet now so sometimes he’ll keep himself occupied if anything set aside some time when and if you can to just talk to him even tummy time on your chest as long as my babies fed burped and has a clean diaper he’s relaxed with a good nap here and there

I just sat and watch tv while playing with them. They never paid attention to the tv but they would have time on the ground and I’d play with them or have toys around them stuff like that. But I wasn’t bored because I was watching stuff too

Mine currently either plays on his play mat, stares at the Christmas tree lights or watches the TV with me I've noticed when I play certain video games he's more entertained games with brighter colors and sounds seem to be his favorite

Talk to them about what you’re doing, washing dishes, etc. Go for walks, tummy time, baby wear, etc. There’s no need to really do anything more than that just yet.

Tummy time, water filled tummy time mat, letting them look at stuff, black and white contrast toys, newborn rattles, newborn toys, teaching him how to grasp things, encouraging him to grab for things by holding toys in front of him or keeping them within reach while he’s on his tummy, dancing, singing to him, talking to him, sitting him in the bouncer if I need to do something and talking to him while I’m doing whatever it is, walks outside (I live in a cold climate and we have a bunting suit and blankets for the bassinet stroller) looking at soft lights

Lovevery toy kits are great for teaching parents age appropriate activities and my baby absolutely loves every item in his newborn box they’re a bit pricey but you can look at the items online and possibly find cheaper individual alternatives if on a budget

I usually just talk to my baby and he loves it.. I feel like I don’t do a lot of activities with him.. and as a previous infant teacher who once did full on curriculum with infants every day it’s kind of sad that I don’t do anything with my child 😭

this is a video from a few weeks ago but he loves doing this & he’s faster now too😂 loves tapping the mirror with his feet

Take her on walks even if it’s cold, we have the equipment for it, all the right clothes and covers etc (I’m in Quebec), do my chores while she’s in baby bjorn, work out with her, take her on play dates to my friend’s house, baby and me classes, tummy time, independent supervised play on the mat with toys, reading to her, talking to her about anything that’s on mind

I literally just rotate between all my stations in her wake windows. We eat, then she sits in the swing for about 25 min, then we go to the play mat for about 25 min, then I play with her and hold her and do other stuff for the remainder, and then its nap time

I sit him in his bouncer while I clean so he can watch me. If he gets bored I put him on the floor on his tummy or back. Someone is almost always singing or talking to him - his big sis lovesssss him so much! I baby wear him sometimes too

I started using flash cards with my little in a bumbo seat as the pictures grabs his attention and he is learning in the process. I also take him on walks when the weather is nice enough. We read books together and I also have been showing him how to hold more and more things so he has really been enjoying tethers lately
