Doesn’t seem normal 😭 anyone else?

My 8 week old has been on Nutramigen 1 for nearly 4 weeks now. This past week her poo has gotten really runny again, literally water and I’ve been to the gp about it but she said this normal while she’s adjusting to the milk. Like I say she’s been on this for a month and her poos weren’t like this when she first started having the milk. I’m at my wits end, worried and feel stuck with medical advice. Has anyone else had these symptoms with their babies? X

Yeah my little boy went the same way after about 4 weeks he also became congested, getting tummy ache all the time and started developing a rash again so ive asked for him to be put on amino acid formula i think for some reason his body started having a reaction to the nutramigen as well because after not even 24hours on the amino acid formula he already seems more settled finger crossed this one works 🤞🏼 might be worth you asking if your little girl can go on it as well theres no harm in trying it x

I would give it another week and then go back and say he needs to be switched to amino acid based I think they are very reluctant to prescribe due to how expensive it is xx

@Millie thank you so much for this! I’m glad the milk is helping your little boy. It’s very strange that they can just have a reaction after it being fine isn’t it. I hope it stays working for you both 🤞🏻 I will definitely ask the dr, I feel awful for her. Was he put on the neocate or sma? X

@Kelly thank you, I definitely will. she was settling so well on it until this past week as well, gutted for her xx

@Georgie it is definitely weird even the doctor was a bit funny about it because hed improved so much originally hes been put onto the neocate by my request because its made with cool boiled water rather than the sma which im pretty sure is made with boiling water and i just find cool boiled easier when going out just dont take no for an answer like kelly said it is very expensive when i was looking into it i found out its about £40 for a 400g tub so they might try and fob you off x

@Millie yeah that’s like Quinn, she was having my milk and her skin was covered in rashes and she had diarrhoea from being a couple days old which led to having severe nappy rash. Her skin so much better but she still has the nappy rash and no the diarrhoea is back. The dr I saw on Wednesday did kinda fob us off with the whole it’s her getting used to it. I’m going to ring them back first thing in the morning and ask for the neocate. It’s so much easier isn’t it. I’m glad that your boy is better in himself! Awful when they aren’t 100% x

@Georgie ive always found it helps when you go in and tell them exactly what you want i feel like a lot of the time doctors are just guessing when it comes to babies so they want to cover their own back by just doing what you ask, when i was looking into neocate and what to expect i did find that it can make babies windier at first but it should settle after a couple weeks so just be prepared ive been having to wind my little boy every half hour or so today x

I’m having the same issue with my girl and the SMA Althera. My hv said she will need to see a dietician to have neocate though 😞 she never had skin problems before but now has loads of dry patches and her poo’s are still terrible. She’s more unsettled on this than she was on normal formula and I’m at my wits end. My gp is useless and just does whatever the health visitor tells him to do

@Lauryn we’ve not had to see a dietitian for my little boy the gp prescribed it for him x

@Millie that’s exactly what I did when I got her put onto nutramigen, the gp wanted to wait 2 weeks but I couldn’t watch her suffer anymore so she gave me the milk. Thank you for this! Bless him, glad it seems to agree with him and he’s having a better time than on this formula x
