@anisha ♡ , I’ve tried music and there’s nothing he seems to take to, could you maybe message me with some examples of the picture books if you have any ! Also I appreciate the advice , just trying to find more interesting things to do with him / keep him entertained and engaged while he’s awake
Most pediatric associations recommend zero screen time until 2 or 3 years old! Youd be surprised what will entertain them! Mine stared and laughed at shadows on a wall for a solid 7 minutes the other day. Weve got a play mat with things hanging from it that she loves, a bouncer chair with a toy bar that she reaches for the toys and laughs and chats with, black and white books are a huge hit because of the contrast. We sing and talk to her. Sometimes she just wants to stare at the ceiling fan or a light fixture. Running water is also a huge hit but we have no idea why. They honestly don't need much and at this age you want low stimulation (tv is super high stimulating). You can get anything I mentioned on amazon or like Facebook marketplace second hand!
Zero screen time. But if you want to and must. Dancing fruit on YouTube. Or Ms Rachel.
I don’t recommend the dancing fruit because the high contrast can be overstimulating, but animal documentaries are probably the best option. That’s what my toddler watches when I give him the chance. It’s the only thing he’s interested in because it’s the only thing I let him see as a baby
@Kianna you’re not wrong. I get sucked into dancing fruit. But my son loved them. I never thought about animal documentaries! I’m gonna do that for my third. And educational 😂
does he have a playmat and do tummy time? maybe try a black and white high contrast book or flash cards. like Molly said they really don’t need much to be entertained at that age!
@Victoria yeah I like the music from the dancing fruit, but once I realized it was affecting me and I have adhd I was like yeahh… my son cannot catch a glimpse of this it’ll be over for me 😂😂 The animal documentaries are really great! Any documentary should be okay, but kids love animals. They’re learning and it’s real life thing so you can’t go wrong with that.
Can a 2 month old even see the pictures on TV? I don’t know but my guess is he is mesmerized by the flashing lights/glow of the TV and not the content. That baby probably just wants to see your face and other people’s faces IRL. If you need a break or something I’d personally recommend nature shows!
hey mama! it’s so sweet that you’re noticing your little one is engaging more with what’s around them 🥰 as they’re still so tiny, i wouldn’t let them watch tv or even face it, babies this small are often happy to just look around the room. although they’re not really “watching” the constant change of colours/scenes can be really overwhelming for their little eyes and brains, and can also get them used to this type of stimulation and have them prefer it over things that are better for their brain, for example, black and white picture books at this age! ❤️ i know sometimes mamas need a break to get something important done or just to get a moment to themselves, but if it’s just in general i personally would avoid screens, and try to avoid them all together until they’re a little older❤️ if you need a moment to yourself you could maybe put on some music that they can hear? their little ears love melodies and it’s a great stimulus for them ❤️
