It’s fine, there’s no obligation to take your car seat into the hospital
@N 💞 they won't let you leave if you don't have a car seat though?
@Dominique yes they will, They cannot legally hold you. Anyone that’s told you that is scaremongering. Some people get public transport home from hospital using the pram. A car seat is not a necessary requirement to simply leave the hospital.
@N 💞 @Dominique yep! We left in the pram bassinet as we have the silvercross all motion seat that sits permanently in the car. The only thing they don’t like is simply carrying the baby :)
I walked out with my son in my arms yesterday. Never took the seat out the car. No one asked how I was taking him home. Legally you can walk home with baby. You only need a car seat IF you are using a car and only a police officer can enforce that whilst on the road. A midwife cannot do anything. Baby 1 I didn’t have a car seat either as I didn’t have a car, pushed my baby out of hospital in her pram and got a train home.
Do you think its worth me putting the pram into my car just incase the cause the fuss?
Can’t hurt. I saw lots of parents pushing their baby out in a pram
@Sarah thank you and congratulations on the birth of your son too x
It's not related to your question but I've read that although it says it's suitable from birth, that seat doesn't provide a safe fit for newborns. So it would be worth buying an infant carrier seat to get you through the first couple of months for that reason. Also it's advised not to fit the car seat in your car until baby is on the way or born. Otherwise if you're in a car accident before baby arrives the seat will need replacing before baby's even sat in it!
@Sophie oh really when i brought it from mamas and papas the lady told me it was fine from newborn? And yeah thank you i am aware of that but im not driving my car now until she makes her arrival xx
I have this car seat. Our little one got wheeled out in the cot by us with a midwife, we strapped her in the midwife checked the fit and off we went. I was nervous they’d be awkward but not a problem at all
@Sam oh thats amazing to hear! Did your little one fit comfortably into it?
This baby was 8 weeks old and a specialist car seat retailer said he wasn't big enough to fit safely in the seat Mamas and Papas sell loads of stuff so their staff probably get very little training in car seat safety 😊 https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19do1eCW4W/?
She was fine and I love the chair still but she was big (9.7) my sister just had a boy at 6.7lb and I don’t think I’d have been happy putting him in if I’m totally honest
Take the pram for the journey from the bed to the car
