My little one is 12 months, looking for something not too pricey to fit in VW polo (it’s a small car)

We have an Axkid movekid in my Kia Picanto. It's a real squeeze but it fits with the recline foot out (but without any extra leg room for my son which he won't need for quite a while anyway) so should fit in a VW polo!

What’s not too pricey? For a smaller car I’d always recommend the sky Q, currently £270 with some reputable retailers and will definitely last to HBB age x
