Anyones baby on hypoallergenic formula?

My baby girl is 1 month and 3 weeks old. She had an allergic reaction to aptamil when she was about 4 weeks old. She went on this new milk and has been perfectly fine until now. Iv noticed after a feed she screams for no reason or sometimes she can randomly wake up and scream for 2 hours at a time and won’t settle. Is this colic? Or a bad belly from new milk?

What milk is she on? We are on Neocate and we’ve had absolutely no issues with it. All the hypoallergenic milks are a lot thinner than normal milk so she may be waking up and screaming due to being hungry as these milks aren’t as filling. When we moved onto Neocate my little girl went up by 2oz compared to her usual feed so it maybe that x

We r on neocate suits my baby well he also had a reaction to aptamil then aptamil pepti 1. Colic is more the screaming for no reason thing, chances r ur not going to get hypoallergenic formula unless it's couple with quite a few more symptoms beside crying, it's really hard to get a diagnosis even with the right symptoms. Maybe give colic formula a try instead. Does ur baby struggle with gas? They struggle burping and don't fart very often that's would make sense with crying after a feed, try your baby on infacol if u haven't already, give it 3-4 days for it to take affect before deciding it doesn't work x

@Willow I think she’s already on the hypoallergenic formula x

@Julia yes so we upped her oz and she was okay for a bit but gone back to screaming or really fussing. Since upping her oz she doesn’t wake at all for a feed during the night she does 12-6. We never have any issues during the night it’s just always during the day she screams. Some days she’s okay and some days she screams for hours on end xx

@Ellie What formula is it that you’re using?x

@Ellie She could be reacting to that as it’s hydrolysed. Some babies need an amino acid formula with absolutely no cows milk in it which this formula will have as well as Aptamil pepti 1. See if you can maybe get Neocate as this is why your baby might be screaming and crying randomly. Has she got any other symptoms apart from the crying?x

@Julia in that case it is a super common side affect of hypoallergenic formula to cause gas we were told to give him infacol with it and that helped a lot

@Willow Which is totally fair but some babies need a completely amino acid based formula as they can still be reacting to the cows milk proteins that the hydrolysed ones contained. My little girl reacted to it hence the Neocate formula which has worked for us perfectly😊

@Willow she’s been on infacol before the new formula, she has no issues with gas with it it’s worked well for us

@Julia maybe should try the one your using rather then the one we have now and see how it goes x

@Julia yh ik my baby is also on neocate because he was still reacting to the first one they put him on as it wasn't broken down enough, but most of the time they continue to have the same symptoms they had in the first place or worse symptoms which got them on the hypoallergenic formula originally, most doctors won't change the formula unless the symptoms seem the same or worse, not just because they are crying (not down playing ur babies symptoms ik thisbmust be a horrible experience) doctors r just crap and dont take mums seriously so don't set expectations to high mum will probably have to fight to get it changed, neocate is a really expensive formula and they don't like giving it out unless they believe it's 100% necessary x

@Ellie There is also another one beginning with a P can’t quite remember the name of it but definitely give the doctors a ring and just try. Has she got any other symptoms? Or just the crying?x
