Depression medication

I've never had to take pills to help with my mental health. But once I had my baby I had postpartum depression. I thought I was doing ok but my family is making me go to therapy and they want me to take pills. I don't want to take pills but because of where I live I have no choice. Has anyone ever taken or is currently taking pills because of their postpartum depression? If so does it affect you in any kind of way?

I have. I was on anxiety medication before pregnancy and then they shifted me to a different one because I got bad depression in my first trimester. They told be to stay on it through the postpartum period because I was predisposed to PPD. It was low dose sertraline. I didn’t have any negative side effects, just felt a little better overall, which really improved my quality of life.

I take meds for postpartum and I’m counseling too. It’s not bad

I did too. It made things better for sure when I was taking them I’ve stopped bc I couldn’t remeber to take Them but I did notice a difference

I do for post partum anxiety and depression and it’s worth it to me. I can get through the day better and enjoy my time with my family. My doctor is also my baby’s doctor and she said to remember that the only way I can take care of my baby is if I take care of myself first
