Anbesol

My little boy is 4.5 months old. Is it really really bad if I was to give him anbesol liquid now for his gums?? He’s in agony and refuses to sleep.

Can't you just give calpol? That's what I just had to do today as my boy is really struggling too. It's horrible isn't it.

Tried calpol and does nothing for him unfortunately

Maybe try nurofen, I think ibuprofen might be more effective for teething pains. My boy has settled with calpol luckily.

I should have said, we’ve also tried that! Nothing is helping him we’ve tried Ashton and parsons too. His teeth are showing at the bottom but just won’t pop through

I've been giving it as well as calpol and bonjela from 10 weeks when he started teething (not all at the same time!) Did the same with my eldest as they were both teething relentlessly from 2.5 months and havent had any ill effects.

@Tilly thanks, did you find the anbesol helps??

Yes it's the best thing! Instant relief. I use it myself if I have a mouth ulcer

I had a quick look at the info and it says from 5 months but doesn't say why particularly (which I wouldn't expect it to). I would guess that's because they have only tested children from that age. In the information it discusses a 5 month old at 5kgs and doesn't mention any about younger children or weights. I personally wouldn't be concerned if your baby is over 5kgs already. Otherwise maybe look at the information to just check you are ok with the side effects risks- you can search on goggle for the patient information leaflet if you don't have one.

@Marianne thank you! He’s 7kg so I think I’ll just give it a go
