What does a clogged milk duct feel like? Or do I have mastitis?

I recently noticed a lump below my breast and it hasn’t been painful until recently feeding my baby. His sucking was very painful 😭 Any tips on how to figure out what this might be? I know that if it’s a milk duct I have to treat it before it becomes mastitis. 😭😖 any remedies?

Ice and ibuprofen, light massage but not too hard or too much. If it doesn’t resolve in 2 days then seek medical attention —it could become mastitis by then. I had one recently and it took 3-4 days to resolve but I didn’t seek medical attention because it was going down in size and resolving already with those measures

Definitely sounds like a clogged duct. Don't panic, mastitis usually doesn't set in that quickly. Sometimes these resolve themselves if you keep nursing or pumping as usual. But to help it along, ice regularly (multiple times a day) and take ibuprofen. It should resolve it 24-48 hours. If not, you can also try hand expressing, moving from the duct towards your nipple.

Happy ducts & start lecithin pills right away. 3600 mg 3x a day.
