Weaning off BF?

Hello! Baby is nearly a year and whenever I offer to feed during the day she is not interested, she thinks it’s a game to bite my nipple and then look at me and laugh at my reaction. She only really has milk during the nights now. I feel guilty because when she hurts me, I stop the feed (I say feed, no milk is actually taken. She just bites my nipples), but I’m worried that I’m depriving her of milk. Would others continue the nursing session even after she is biting etc or just think that as she’s making it into a game she isn’t hungry/thirsty or doesn’t want it? I am in so much pain, my nipples are bleeding and have bleed onto our bedsheets over night. I’m so worried about things like mastitis from suddenly stopping. Am I better off to pump a bit? Or just stick to babies couple of feeds throughout the night? Any tips welcome!

Aw poor nipples, seems like she doesn't want a drink or she would. The breastfeeding team at koala North West said hand express till comfortable

@Hannah This is what I’m thinking - I’m just shoving a nipple in her face and she’s not interested 🫠 I guess it’s just my anxiety with worrying about her not getting enough fluids x

I’d let the baby lead, if she only wants to feed overnight I’d stick to that. Your supply should adjust unless you feel like you’re engorged in the day I’d pump sto avoid risk of mastitis.

@Evelina yeah since she's already not drinking in the day just biting, it won't make a difference to just remove the biting haha

Now my LO is one I only offer breast milk morning and night. Cows milk is offered during the day

@Lesley have they taken to cows milk ok? X

They drink the same amount as they do with water but not more than that. My LO hates the bottle. They get given cheese and full fat greek yogurt as well to help with their dairy intake.
