Is this masistis?

I’ve had a tough time with pumping (2nd time doing it, with the first I had no issues). Cracked nipples constantly no matter what I did. Over the last day or so, I finally had pain free pumping. Literally a couple of hours ago, I’ve had the feeling of let down but really strong intense and way more painful. It hasn’t stopped so I thought I needed to pump. I did but it was so painful, it’s not a nipple pain like it usually is but more of a whole breast pain. It’s tender to touch and visibly bigger than my other breast. Could this be mastitis?? Do I need to see a GP? Will it go on its own. It’s so bad that I can’t hold baby on that side as it’s so painful.

I had this!! Sounds exactly the same It was caused by over pumping. Boob got insanely full of milk insanely fast. The boob was agonisingly painful. I rang 111 and they said if I have no temperature and no hard lumps or red patches on boob then probably not mastitis , just an overpump reaction They said to keep feeding baby / pumping on it AS NORMAL (not more or less). Mine did go away after about 12 hours 🙏🏻

Try a hot compress and cold compress alternating to relieve the pain or run hot water on it in the shower but do still pump and feed on that side, it could be a clogged duct too

@Elle oooooh thank you!! I ended up taking a mix of paracetamol and ibuprofen as it was unbearable and it slowly eased off. When I was doing more research on Mastitis, j realised it probably wasn’t that. I can’t believe over pumping caused this lol, I’m only on 5 a day. 😭

@Bianca thank you!!
