I have just started potty training my little girl and it’s hard going 😳 If anyone has any advice i will also glady listen Xx

The first couple of days was hardest but then it got much easier :-) Our little girl is potty trained now. We did: Day 1 no bottoms so she wore a dress and socks Day 2 onwards loose bottoms and no underwear After a few days added underwear We followed Big Little Feelings potty training course It said don’t overpraise (you can praise but keep cool) It said no rewards It said to remind toddler where the potty is every 30 mins on first few days instead of making them go on it Accidents are normal, it’s how they learn. When she had an accident we said “wee goes in the potty” and lead her to the potty Day 1 for us was accidents all day. Day 2 was just 2 accidents so don’t be disheartened if day 1 doesn’t go well x

day 3 was very short walks outside with travel potty and then continue your life as normal from day 4 :-) We just do nappy pants at night

Mia was 28 months when we started. All poos have been in potty since started potty training. Nappy pants only used at bedtime. Day 1. No trousers. All wees were accidents but for all of them she went to the potty to finish them off. Day 2. Loose trousers. 2 accidents. I hardly had to remind her about the potty as she kept going on it (sometimes there were no wees) Day 3. 10 min walk (didn’t use potty. No accidents) 40 min walk and play at park (didn’t use potty. No accidents) 1 hour 15 min garden (1 wee in potty. No accidents) 2 accidents. All other wees in potty Day 4 2 accidents when she stood up too soon from her wee (hadn’t quite finished) Went to Tesco and a cafe. Weed in potty whilst we were out Went to gp appt and Tesco again. Weed in potty whilst we were out. Another accident at home but finished it on potty. Day 5. 3 accidents which finished on the toilet Day 6. Went to doctors but didn’t use potty and no accidents whilst out. 2 accidents Day 7 2 accidents

Day 8 2x 1 hour car journeys (grandmas house all day) No accidents Day 9 1 accident Day 10 1 accident Day 11 No accidents Day 12 No accidents I stopped tracking after this as there’s only been the odd wee accident since then. All her poos have always been on the potty. She’s never tried the toilet yet so that will be our next step although I’m not in a rush

We started the week the turned 2 and now she's dry! 🙏. We had potty's in all toilets in the house. Had her nappy off during the day and thankfully she would just use the potty (would sometimes forget) once she was good at remembering we would take her on short trips with knickers on. Making sure she had a wee before we went. Longer journeys I used training pants just incase!. Gave her lots of praise when she used the potty, also had a chart and brought her stickers that she loved putting on when using the potty. Pooing was a bit more difficult, but we have finally sorted it! More time spent on the potty, reading her books and she loves fidget poppers! So would use them until she had finished her poo! Read books to her about using the potty which helped. Still using nappies during the night. But she had a potty in her room which she uses when she wakes up in the morning at the moment! I wouldn't over think it! I thought it was going to be awful, but it was actually fine!x

Also if at nursery, let them know & they are amazing at helping! (She had more accidents at nursery) I think mainly because she would forget when playing! Now we've dropped the awful carry potty and can just use the toilet when we are out which is so much easier ! D

Thank you ladies will take all this on board. Do you recommend the travel potty we are still undecided if it's needed so was going to get one on amazon if it seemed necessary after the first outing

@Rachel yes! We had the my travel potty I think! Comes in cute designs! I let her choose which one she wanted! She used to carry it around like it was a bag 😂

We started between Christmas & NYE Wearing underwear & pants. First two days no successful potty’s. Then NYE asked to go. Since then 80% on potty. 100% some days. Most accidents have been with 💩 Used Bambino Mio potty training pants for longer trips out. Otherwise just cotton trunks (boy)

@Sophie-Jayne how did you transition from potty to toilet please? My daughter doesn’t want to go on the toilet. And OP I also recommend a travel potty. That the potty we have downstairs and we take it everywhere with us when we go out too. We have the penguin one from Tesco. I think the brand is called my carry potty or something like that :-)

@Claire I wish I could take credit for it! But we were on a trip to London one day and we completely forgot the potty so she had to use the big toilet. Since then she's been fine with using it. We have the seats for the ones at our house & so do my mum and dad. But I did buy some steps for our downstairs toilet and she loved the idea of using them, so when she said she needed the toilet I would say wow should we use the big one with the special steps?? And she would get excited to use it! At home though she will go straight for the potty still as just easier for her to pull her own knickers down and get on it if she goes on her own xx

@Claire we got a flip down “family” loo seat. He can do it all himself so that s helping with the current need for independence x
