Night time / sleeping

I’m 35 weeks pregnant and dread going into bed. Because I’m so uncomfortable and in so much pain. My hips and pelvis hurt so much. I’m getting about 3 hours a night. I just can’t get comfortable and going to the toilet about 5/6 times and feel so sick. Anyone else feeling like this?

I'm sorry to hear this :( I'm also up to pee practically every hour but a good pregnancy pillow helps so much with comfort levels. Something under your bump, supporting your back then a pillow between your legs will help with pelvic pain.

@Jessica hi Jessica thank you for reaching out, I’m started using my pregnancy pillow again it’s taken slight pressure off my pelvic area. Do you take any painkillers for the pain? I’m gonna mention it to my midwive tomorrow but she’s so hopeless she doesn’t listen to anything I saw x

I feel your pain, my sleep has been really disrupted since about 30 weeks. I’ve been forcing myself to go out during the day for walks or to run errands and then not allowing myself to nap at all during the day which has seemed to help a bit.

@Chloe yeah I’ve been doing that aswell

I haven't taken painkillers this time but my last pregnancy I had horrible back pain and the GP said I could take max paracetamol if it helps

Hi I’m 34 nearly 35 weeks and find either a warm shower before bed or a hot water bottle helps me with getting 5/6 hours. I use a wheat bag and when I’m up for my 2/3rd wee I bag it in the microwave xx

No tips but just here to say I feel you 😞 in the same boat. Horrid pain plus reflux. And in my case stretching makes it worse. I have a little massager ball that helps a bit and a hot shower takes the edge off the pain for a few mins

I could have written this myself. I’m 35+3 and feeling exactly the same. Sadly no advice to give but you are not alone!

Are you using a pregnancy pillow? I bought the big U shaped ones and I found it really helpful for pelvic pain/pressure. It is best to sleep on your side with the pillow between your knees all the way down to your ankles. The separation helps to keep your pelvic bone neutral.

Have you tried using a hot water bottle?

35 weeks and feel this! Currently been up for over an hour because of awful acid reflux and I’m up 6-8 times a night for a wee. I also have bad sciatica and carpal tunnel which wakes me up and keeps me up if I can’t get comfy. Everyone says it’s training for baby. I have no idea if sleepless nights from baby is worse or not but all I can think is, I’ll be able to sleep on my back and my front eventually when I get there, hopefully any pain I do have will be slowly improving, and I’ll get cute baby snuggles that’ll hopefully make it somewhat worth it! We can do it!!

@Jessica I’m going to speak to my midwife today if she can’t get I’m going to ask for them tablets from the GP

@kerri hi Kerri I get a hot shower before bed and I use this shower gel what’s suppose to relax muscles . Doesn’t really help, I’ve got a hot water bottle and wheat bag so I’ll give them both a try to night xx

@Mallika 😢😢 aw no are you divk with your acid reflux. I think I need to make my showers hotter, because I get a shower before bed every night which is hot and doesn’t really make a difference. Have you discussed this with your midwife x

@Amanda hi Amanda, it will be all worth it in the end ☺️ and these comments have made me feel better as I’ve not really seen any other posts like this x

@Joy hi Joy, yeah I use the U pregnancy pillow, I’ve noticed on my right when I lay with it I feel more at ease.

@Chloe hi Chloe no I’m going to use one tonight x

@Evie yes it will be all be worth it in the end ☺️☺️. I have sciatica aswell 😩😩 it’s so hard to get comfortable. I can’t wait to be able to lay on my back and stomach

Hope it provides some relief. I'm feeling very similar this pregnancy so I empathise so much, hip pain I so bad I feel like I'm gonna need a hip replacement at the end of it, carpal tunnel has developed into trigger finger in pretty much every finger and both thumbs which makes looking after my 16 month old very challenging, sciatica, constant Braxton hicks when I change position...when my friends are like 'oh I loved being pregnant' I'm like...HOW?! Have you got a pregnancy ball too? That helps a bit, I've been using mine since 20 weeks, sitting on the sofa makes the hip pain worse 🫣. Good luck to all of us haha final push now!

I’m 37+6 and I feel anxious about going to bed as well now. I’ve been using a big pregnancy pillow for the last few months but that doesn’t stop the pain much anymore. I cannot get comfortable at all and then of course getting up to pee multiple times lol. I also have PGP which is so much worse at night. I just keep telling myself that I’m nearing the end so not much longer now and I sleep however I want! Lol we got this! 🙌🏻
