Taking colostrum when being induced?

I am having my waters broken tomorrow morning 🤞🏻, I’ve just got home and had the thought in my head, what do I do about taking some colostrum. Did anyone take any of their frozen stash with them, or did you just express after birth?

I sent my partner home to collect it once all was settled after baby was born. I ended up having an emergency section after induction so stayed for 24 hours after she was born. I found that having colostrum was so beneficial as I could give her the syringe and calm her before trying the breast each time allowing me time to prepare and get a good latch as she wasn’t hysterical. My hospital stored them for me and would give us 2 at a time when we asked as they can stay for 3 hours out of the fridge. I found it so helpful whilst working out latch.

@Donna Woods amazing thank you, I will send my partner home as we aren’t too far away from the hospital 😅

I took some with me and probably used about 15ml, I was absolutely shattered after birth so my mum and partner fed her expressed milk while I slept. Just let them know you've got some when you get there so they can store it for you 😊

oh and good luck for tomorrow!! ❤️

I had a C Section and we took maybe 30 syringes in.

We took a couple of syringes with us, and the hospital put them into the freezer. We left the rest at home. If you need extra, someone can go home and collect x

I didn't take it in for induction, but once they moved me to the labour ward (2 days later!) my partner then brought some frozen syringes i had expressed at home. I had an assisted delivery and had to have stitches so my partner was able to feed our little boy right away in theatre. Afterwards in hospital I was struggling with getting him to latch (he feeds amazing now!). He had jaundice and we needed to get as much fluid into him as possible, so we were able to give him the rest of the colostrum. Came in so handy and took the pressure off while I was starting out with breastfeeding him. Definitely worth it xxx

Meant to say we just labelled it up and hospital stored it for us while we were there xx

Yes I took some for when I was induced with my second, my first born was tongue tied unknowingly so to be sure my little one could feed I made sure I brought it with, I’m glad I did as she was a bit clumsy learning to breastfeed so few times fed from syringe via boob :) xx

I took most of my frozen stash with me x
